Network Engineer – Remote Position Type: Full-Time, Remote Location: Remote Working Hours: U.S. Business Hours (Flexibility required for on-call support and critical incidents) About the Role At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a Network Engineer to design, maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across client environments. This is not a helpdesk or support-only role. You’ll take ownership of network reliability, performance, and security across enterprise environments while supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term infrastructure initiatives. Working across routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, monitoring systems, and hybrid cloud environments, you’ll ensure network infrastructure remains stable, secure, scalable, and highly available. If you enjoy solving complex networking challenges, improving infrastructure, and maintaining mission-critical systems, this role is for you. Responsibilities Network Infrastructure & Configuration Configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Implement and manage: VLANs QoS VPN tunnels Access Control Lists (ACLs) Routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and infrastructure maintenance. Support network expansion projects, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades. Maintain reliable connectivity across multi-site and hybrid environments. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting Monitor network health using tools such as: SolarWinds PRTG Nagios Zabbix Diagnose and resolve latency, packet loss, DNS, routing, and connectivity issues. Troubleshoot escalated incidents using tools such as Wireshark and TCPdump. Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term preventive solutions. Participate in on-call support and respond to critical network incidents when required. Network Security & Compliance Configure and maintain firewall environments including: Cisco Palo Alto Fortinet Juniper Implement network segmentation, ACLs, and security policies. Support compliance initiatives related to: PCI-DSS HIPAA SOX GDPR Assist with Zero Trust networking and secure remote access implementations. Maintain a secure, resilient, and well-governed network infrastructure. Performance Optimization & Reliability Perform bandwidth utilization analysis and capacity planning. Optimize network performance through redundancy, failover, and load balancing. Maintain high-availability infrastructure across enterprise environments. Identify bottlenecks and recommend scalable infrastructure improvements. Support cloud networking integrations across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments. Documentation & Operational Governance Maintain accurate network diagrams, topology maps, SOPs, and technical documentation. Document infrastructure changes following structured change management processes. Keep configurations, procedures, and documentation organized and audit-ready. Collaborate closely with infrastructure, cloud, security, and DevOps teams on network initiatives. What Makes You a Great Fit You have a strong troubleshooting mindset and remain calm during critical incidents. You proactively identify and resolve infrastructure risks. You communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You maintain high standards for documentation and operational excellence. You work independently while collaborating effectively within remote teams. You take ownership of infrastructure reliability and long-term improvements. Required Experience & Skills 3+ years of professional Network Engineering experience. Hands-on experience managing enterprise networking environments. Strong knowledge of: OSPF BGP EIGRP Experience configuring: Routers Switches Firewalls VPN environments Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting platforms. Strong experience with Cisco networking environments or equivalent enterprise platforms. Solid understanding of: TCP/IP DNS DHCP VLANs QoS Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Preferred Experience Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certifications. Experience with: Palo Alto Fortinet Juniper Experience supporting: AWS VPCs Azure VNets Hybrid cloud networking Familiarity with: Python Ansible Terraform Experience supporting multi-site enterprise environments. Exposure to Zero Trust networking models and modern security frameworks. What Success Looks Like Network uptime consistently maintained at 99.9% or higher . Fast resolution of network incidents and escalations. Accurate, current, and well-maintained infrastructure documentation. Timely completion of critical patches and compliance requirements. Improved network stability, scalability, and performance. Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on network reliability and support.
