About Raiyo Raiyo, an operating division of Robovision, develops and manufactures software as medical devices (SaMD) for radiology applications that enables disease detection, segmentation, and treatment planning with the objective to support radiologists by assisting in the identification of diseases and helping medical teams make the most appropriate treatment decisions. Our first SaMD (CE-marking in process) will allow the detection and monitoring of intracranial metastases in patients with primary non-intracranial cancer. We are currently looking for a (freelance) Data Scientist to join our Raiyo team. Located in Ghent (Belgium), this is an hybrid position. Project duration: 3 months (extendable) Your role As a Data Scientist, you will work at the intersection of AI development and medical device compliance, turning patient and device data into models that hold up in the field and under audit. What you'll do: Collect and analyse medical device data. Work with patient data, device data, and other relevant sources to understand the problem space and inform model development. Develop and optimise AI models. Select appropriate algorithms, design training and validation datasets, and tune model performance to improve device accuracy, reliability, and, ultimately, patient outcomes. Collaborate across teams. Work with software development engineers, regulatory specialists, medical specialists, and colleagues in other teams to align on shared goals, and contribute realistic effort estimates for model development work. Support regulatory compliance and risk management. Contribute to the risk analysis of each device developed and placed on the market, together with the QA & RA manager, and contribute to the software-related records that form part of the Medical Device File. Handle patient data responsibly. Ensure data is collected, processed, and used in an ethical, secure, and compliant manner throughout the model development lifecycle.
