Antwerp/Amsterdam/Vilvoorde - The Solution Architect & Data Platform Engineer plays a central role within the Data Platform team. We are the driving force behind the strategic technology that enables our company‑wide Data Mesh. Because our platform serves the entire DPG data community, your work will be highly visible and have a massive impact across the organization. In this dynamic environment, you ensure that our data technologies are utilized in a coherent, scalable, and secure way. You contribute to the long‑term vision of enabling accessible yet strictly governed data usage. Working closely with the Data Area Manager and Product Owner, you translate this vision into concrete initiatives and epics that shape our roadmap. Why we combine Architecture and Engineering We strongly believe that architectural responsibility should go hand-in-hand with hands-on platform engineering. We do this for three key reasons: Grounded decisions: Building alongside a group of seasoned platform engineers ensures your architectural choices are rooted in daily reality; Cutting-edge expertise: Staying hands-on keeps your skills razor-sharp and continuously up-to-date with the latest tech; Seamless collaboration: Working in the same agile rhythm maximizes alignment and communication with both engineers and the Product Owner Key responsibilities Solution architecture Advise DPG Media on data platform technologies, including their configuration, evolution, and alignment with the overarching enterprise strategy. Monitor and guide how these technologies are adopted across the organization, ensuring they empower the Data Mesh and comply with governance principles Collaborate with the Data Area Manager and Data Domain Architect to define priorities and guarantee architectural coherence within the broader enterprise landscape. Translate long‑term architectural vision into practical, actionable platform features, maintaining a clear overview of technical dependencies. Participate in the Enterprise Architecture Community of Practice in order to collaborate with other architects and share your domain knowledge and practices. Platform Engineering Act as a hands-on technical expert to troubleshoot and resolve complex, high-level platform issues. Continuously develop and apply your expertise in our core data platform stack (AWS, CI/CD, Airflow, Snowflake, dbt, Spark). Serve as a crucial bridge between platform users and the engineering team, translating technical challenges and feedback into robust solutions. Help shape our engineering culture by setting best practices, documenting solutions, and actively participating in co-location days, guilds, and communities of practice. Who are you? You are an experienced IT professional with a solid background in platform engineering and proven experience in solution architecture You have a deep understanding of modern data stacks and data modeling principles You are a natural, empathetic communicator, highly skilled at explaining complex technical concepts to both engineering peers and business stakeholders You thrive on solving complex problems and take a proactive, hands-on approach to implementing technical solutions Most importantly, you are passionate about driving a positive, supportive, and scalable user experience across our entire data platform Our core team is based in Antwerp and Vilvoorde, but we are open to talent from all over the Netherlands and Belgium. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
