Assignment Overview The client is looking for a Python Engineer to contribute to the development and enhancement of Python-based applications and services. The assignment involves backend development, APIs, integrations, data flows, web applications, internal tools, and customer-facing solutions. The position is open to candidates at different experience levels, with responsibilities and technical ownership increasing according to seniority. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable Python-based services and applications. Build and enhance APIs, integrations, background processes, and data workflows. Contribute to customer-facing applications and internal engineering tools. Work collaboratively with product, design, architecture, operations, and security teams. Improve code quality, system reliability, observability, performance, and maintainability. Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and incident resolution. Identify opportunities to simplify systems and minimize unnecessary technical complexity. Apply sound software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle. Senior-Level Responsibilities For senior and staff-level engineers, the assignment may additionally involve: Contributing to technical strategy, system architecture, and engineering direction. Making appropriate architectural and technical trade-offs. Mentoring and supporting other engineers. Helping establish and improve engineering standards across teams. Driving improvements in quality, delivery, ownership, and development practices. Contributing to AWS cloud architecture and platform-related decisions. Required Skills & Competencies Strong Python programming and software engineering fundamentals. Experience developing web applications, APIs, or backend services. Good understanding of SQL, NoSQL, and data modelling . Familiarity with software testing and version control. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Understanding of web application fundamentals and server-rendered applications. Knowledge of JavaScript. Ability to work effectively with both onsite and offshore teams. Strong communication, collaboration, and continuous-learning mindset. Desirable Skills Experience or strong interest in HTMX . Exposure to microservices, event-driven architectures, or distributed systems. Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly for more experienced candidates. Strong AWS expertise and cloud-native design experience for senior-level positions. Knowledge of AI and Generative AI (GenAI) . Experience in banking, fintech, or other regulated environments is an advantage but not mandatory. Experience Expectations Graduate / Junior Engineers Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals. University, internship, personal, or open-source projects that demonstrate practical development skills. Curiosity, discipline, and ability to learn quickly. Mid-Level Engineers Hands-on experience with production codebases. Practical experience with APIs, integrations, databases, and backend development. Experience debugging, testing, and delivering production features. Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and preferably HTMX. Senior / Staff Engineers Proven experience in system design and technical direction. Strong architectural decision-making skills. Experience mentoring or coaching engineers. Ability to influence engineering quality across teams. Strong understanding of balancing delivery speed, simplicity, risk, and maintainability.
