Job Summary The Employment Center Business Assistant will support employment, onboarding, and payroll-related processes for the Ag, HHS, & Vet Med Employment Center. The primary responsibility of this position is serving as the center’s primary I-9 verifier by completing Form I-9 verifications and reverifications in accordance with federal and university guidelines. Additional responsibilities include processing employment-related requests, monitoring employment and work authorization requirements, and assisting faculty, staff, students, and business offices with employment and payroll-related questions. This position will also serve as a resource to assist staff with payroll processes and resolve situational problems, act as a liaison between customers and central offices, and utilize TDX and email to manage workflow. This position requires an on-campus presence to support operational needs. What Were Looking For: Required: Education and Experience: High school diploma / GED 3 or more years of customer service, payroll, account clerk, bookkeeping, business or related experience Must have experience in providing a high level of customer service Skills Ability to identify problems, analyze information, and implement solutions Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, maintaining quality standards, and handling confidential information with discretion Strong organizational and time management skills with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels Must be extremely flexible and adaptable to constantly varying work environments and with limited daily supervision Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement policies and procedures Proficient with personal computer and related software (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, database, internet, etc.) Ability to handle interruptions while meeting deadlines with accurate results and providing exceptional customer service Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology Demonstrated oral and written communication skills Additional Information: This is a part-time (.75 FTE) position To learn more about Purdue’s benefits summary Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible For Overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Non-exempt Defined Contribution Plan Purdue University is an EO university Career Stream Administrative and Operational Support 2 Pay Band S040 Job Code #20002334 The anticipated annual rate for this position is $18.50/hour.
