Job Summary: This role is responsible for electrical power and controls engineering, including reviewing and approving electrical designs for new and existing equipment, equipment upgrades, design, material and service specification, and managing installations, startups, and troubleshooting. The Electrical Engineer will provide technical expertise in industrial power distribution systems, including 480V and higher-voltage infrastructure, while driving projects from scope definition through execution. This position reports to Engineering Manager. Essential Job Responsibilities: Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget development and execution of capital projects. Provide electrical engineering and design from concept through hand-off using the established PESHA process. Collaborate with internal/external engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors to review electrical designs, evaluate equipment specifications, and support successful project execution. Perform engineering tasks including problem-solving, design calculations, equipment selection, electrical design, proposal reviews, and drawing management. Ensure proper operation and safety of equipment and processes. Recommend and implement changes to improve manufacturing value, electrical system reliability and system performance. Ensure processes are capable, controlled, and meet delivery and cost targets. Be present on the shop floor as needed, including accessing equipment via ladders or high reaches to evaluate progress and troubleshoot issues. Manage contractors to ensure safe and productive execution of work. What will make you successful? Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. ( required) At least 5 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment as an electrical engineer. ( required) Experience reviewing, evaluating, and providing technical recommendations on electrical designs for industrial equipment and manufacturing systems. (preferred) Experience managing million dollar capital projects. (preferred) Experience with industrial power distribution systems, including 480V distribution and/or medium-voltage systems. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
