Job Description POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY To lead and manage enterprise database operations, ensuring the availability, integrity, performance, security, and recoverability of database platforms supporting airport operational systems, enterprise applications, and critical business services. The role is responsible for database governance, operational excellence, disaster recovery readiness, performance optimization, and continuous improvement in accordance with approved standards and business requirements. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS Lead the administration, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise database platforms and services. Ensure database availability, performance, integrity, security, and recoverability in accordance with service level requirements. Establish and maintain database operational standards, procedures, governance controls, and configuration management practices. Lead database monitoring, incident management, problem management, root cause analysis, and service restoration activities. Oversee database backup, recovery, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery readiness activities. Manage database capacity planning, performance optimization, lifecycle management, and technology refresh initiatives. Ensure compliance with database security controls, access management requirements, cybersecurity policies, and governance standards. Coordinate database support activities for airport operational systems, enterprise applications, and critical business services. Lead implementation of database upgrades, migrations, enhancements, and modernization initiatives. Manage database-related vendors, OEMs, managed service providers, and technology partners to ensure service delivery and contractual compliance. Maintain database documentation, operational records, governance artefacts, and technical standards. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to database team members. Support database architecture reviews, technology evaluations, and enterprise transformation initiatives. Provide database performance reporting, operational risk visibility, and management updates. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance database resilience, efficiency, performance, and service quality. Key Challenges Maintaining database availability, performance, integrity, and recoverability for mission-critical airport operational systems and enterprise applications. Managing database growth, performance expectations, and capacity requirements across multiple environments. Balancing operational support requirements, project implementation activities, and database modernization initiatives. Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity, governance, audit, and regulatory requirements. Managing database backup, recovery, disaster recovery readiness, and business continuity objectives. Coordinating multiple database technologies, vendors, and operational priorities effectively. Skills Strong knowledge of enterprise database administration, performance management, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and database security. Experience managing enterprise database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent. Experience coordinating database maintenance, patching, migration, performance tuning, and recovery validation activities. Familiarity with database governance, compliance requirements, audit readiness, and operational standards. Ability to lead technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, database recovery activities, and service restoration initiatives. Good analytical, stakeholder management, reporting, communication, and technical coordination skills. Professional certifications relating to Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent technologies will be an added advantage. Willingness to support after-office hours activities, disaster recovery exercises, maintenance windows, and major incident response activities when required. Education External Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Database Administration, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent Relevant Experience External Degree with minimum 2–4 years relevant experience in Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Operations, Database Administration, Datacenter Operations, System Administration, or Enterprise Hosting environments.
