This position is based in Vienna, Austria - requires regular office presence 3 days a week Your Mission Take end-to-end IT ownership of SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay and Compensation, including integration with Employee Central, Performance & Goals, and future Payroll interfaces. Act as the technical lead for Compensation & Benefits (Total Rewards) solutions, partnering closely with HR COEs, IT teams, and external vendors. Translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures and solutions with a strong focus on Compensation processes. Design, configure, and continuously enhance Compensation, Variable Pay, and Job Architecture frameworks within SuccessFactors, ensuring consistency, compliance, and scalability. Own and optimize data models, eligibility rules, and governance structures across Compensation and broader HR systems. Ensure stable operations, performance, and continuous improvement of the Compensation landscape. Lead and support global HR digitalization initiatives in the Total Rewards domain, from design through implementation to ongoing operations. Collaborate on the overall HR IT architecture, including integrations and extensions (e.g. SAP BTP), while keeping the primary focus on core SuccessFactors modules. Explore and support innovation topics such as SAP Joule (AI) where relevant, to enhance user experience and process efficiency (nice to have). Your Profile +5 years of experience in the field of HR processes and HR digitalization . Experience in SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay (configuration, data modeling, and end-to-end processes). Solid understanding of Compensation & Benefits (Total Rewards) concepts, including bonus schemes, salary review cycles, and eligibility rules. Proven expertise in Job Architecture , including job structures, pay ranges, and alignment with compensation frameworks. Good knowledge of SuccessFactors Employee Central and its integration points with Compensation and Performance & Goals is a plus. Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions and system configurations within SuccessFactors . Ability to own topics end-to-end , work independently, and collaborate effectively with HR stakeholders and IT teams. Experience working in global environments and projects is highly desirable. Team player with a confident and open personality with the ability of leading project teams beyond hierarchies. Nice to have: exposure to SAP BTP , extensions, or advanced integration scenarios. Nice to have: interest or initial experience with AI-driven HR innovations such as SAP Joule. Other similar qualifications are welcome. We are open to individual careers. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
