SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST The Executive Directorate Investigation Support (EDIS) oversees INTERPOL’s police investigative support. The Organized and Emerging Crime (OEC) Directorate within EDIS focuses primarily on operational activities, including supporting member countries to carry out transnational operations, and provides investigative support to member countries. The Vulnerable Communities (VCO) Sub-Directorate focuses on three crime areas: Crimes against Children (CAC), Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants (HTSM). Under the supervision and guidance of management, the Criminal Intelligence Officer will assume responsibility for continuing with existing activities, as well as establishing new programs, which provide operational, investigative and technical support to member countries. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES The incumbent will take part in various CAC unit activities, with focus on maintenance and further developments of INTERPOL ‘Worst of’ List (IWOL) and BASELINE systems and should have sound knowledge of the online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA) crime area. This job involves working in the context of child abuse criminal cases and being exposed to graphic child abuse material. It requires an employee that can handle exposure to highly sensitive content. DUTY 1: IWOL System Maintenance Ensure the operational functionality and regular update status of the IWOL workstation and IWOL server. Analyze and validate domains prior to inclusion on the IWOL server. Oversee and ensure the overall accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the IWOL list. Notify service providers regarding the presence of harmful or illegal content hosted on their platforms. Monitor and process daily correspondence and feedback. Maintain and update the service provider contact database. DUTY 2: BASELINE System Maintenance Classify online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA) material hosted on the BASELINE server in accordance with INTERPOL BASELINE criteria. Maintain and update the BASELINE list. Make the list available to international users. Act as the primary system user and ensure active participation of CAC unit members in the classification and review of material. DUTY 3: Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships: Maintain active communication with external stakeholders and potential partners to integrate IWOL and BASELINE list within their services. Present and promote the features, scope, and operational value of the IWOL and BASELINE products. Initiate, coordinate, and support partnership processes, including the negotiation and formalization of agreements for product use. Contribute to and support the Organization’s internal due diligence procedures related to prospective partners and agreements. DUTY 4: ICSE Database Management Operate on INTERPOL’s International Child Sexual Exploitation media database (ICSE), administrative and quality control tasks, engagement and liaison with ICSE users around the world to progress their usage and contribution. Participate in development workshops and new feature/version/system testing campaigns. DUTY 5: Capacity Building and Training Development Prepare and deliver training linked to the above activities. DUTY 6: Documentation and Standards Development Draft documentation, referrals, standards of operation, curriculums, linked to the above activities. DUTY 7: Participation in Forums and Working Groups Participate in professional and international forums and working groups, governmental, civil society and private sector, deliver speeches, presentations and comments. DUTY 8: Additional Tasks and Responsibilities Carry any other task related to Crimes Against Children or the unit’s mandate, to ensure the Organization can provide continued service to its membership. Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy. QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED/FORMATION: Three to four years' education at a University (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma) in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical field. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/EXPÉRIENCE: At least three years of experience in investigating online crimes against children and technologies used to facilitate crimes in a law enforcement agency. Ten years’ experience in the area is required if the post holder does not have the required level of education Proven experience in Police services is required. LANGUAGES/LANGUES: Fluency in English is required Working knowledge of other official INTERPOL languages (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be considered an additional asset. ABILITIES REQUIRED/COMPÉTENCES TECHNIQUES: Ability to work with explicit and graphic child sexual exploitation material such as images and videos on a regular basis. Ability to work in an international and dynamic environment, demanding frequent interaction and cooperation. Ability to work seamlessly as a member of a team.
