Sr. NVH Engineer Test and develop the Noise and Vibration performance of North American Market Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles as a member of the NVH group. The group is in charge of all Noise, Vibration and Aeroacoustics test and development activities in support of prototype and pilot vehicle development to assure that the NVH performance meets or exceeds customers’ expectations in all road and environmental conditions in North America. The group’s main function of evaluation, testing, and developing the NVH performance of HMG vehicles aligns with our corporate goal of delivering the best vehicles for the North American customer through regional technical leadership and global collaboration. WHAT YOU WILL DO Test and Develop the Noise and Vibration performance of North American Market Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles. Conduct experimental Noise, Vibration and Aeroacoustic investigations including Transfer Path Analysis, Modal Analysis, and Sound Quality Analysis in support of prototype and pilot vehicle development. Perform NVH and Wind Noise subjective evaluations & objective testing, investigate problem root causes, develop appropriate countermeasures, and summarize findings in reports. Evaluate vehicle NVH performance with the North America Customers’ perspective in mind. Utilize experimental data acquisition systems and NVH analysis software (LMS Test Lab, HEAD Acoustics ArtemiS, ...). Collaborate with NVH and cross functional teams to develop and execute test plans, coordinate test vehicles, manage supplier activities and ensure efficient use of development resources. Conduct in-depth benchmarking of competitor vehicles and translate findings into actionable insights, recommended development direction and preliminary performance targets. Analyze and interpret customer feedback and quality data results with internal and external partners (J.D. Power IQS, Consumer Reports, social media, general media, and internal & external customer clinics). Interface regularly with Engineering Design Department and counterparts in our R&D Headquarters in Korea; contribute to joint investigations and development activities. Support vehicle NVH development activities at the Hyundai California Proving Ground. Support North American manufacturing plants, assisting with issue identification, troubleshooting and countermeasure implementation related to build, assembly and process variation during pilot and production stages. Contribute to the identification, evaluation and development of new NVH technologies, methodologies and strategies to improve performance and competitiveness of current and future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles. Participate in domestic and international drive evaluations, development trips and customer-perception events to assess vehicle NVH performance under a variety of conditions and environments. Independently manage assigned NVH projects, ensuring high-quality data, thorough analysis and on-time delivery of technical recommendations. Create and present clear, concise technical reports, presentations and project updates to management and cross-functional partners. Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in the automotive industry 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing and testing the NVH performance of development vehicles Extensive experience in automotive NVH performance development, including testing, analysis, and system-level optimization Experienced with Noise & Vibration test equipment and analysis software including LMS Test.Lab, HEAD Acoustics ArtemiS, and Matlab Good understanding of body/chassis systems and automotive manufacturing practices Experience with Body on Frame NVH development a plus Excellent computer skills and experience in in-vehicle NVH objective measurements Knowledgeable with NVH CAE analysis Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving methods Excellent written communication and presentation skills Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU Zero-dollar employee premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for you and your family 100% employer-paid disability and life insurance Generous paid time off including vacation, sick and abundant holidays A global environment that fosters diversity Competitive salaries (commensurate with experience) Range of position: $98,000.00 - $125,000.00 Retirement savings and planning benefits Flexible work hours Access to health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts OTHER DETAILS Physical Demands, Work Environment, Travel Expectations: Able to work in a culturally diverse team environment and in harsh climate conditions (Winter -40F, Summer +120F, altitude up to 14,000 ft) Travel up to 35%, domestically and internationally to support product development and testing Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
