The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics develops robots that enable people to interact with the environment more efficiently, effectively and safely. The robots are designed to work in environments that are inaccessible or dangerous for humans, but also to support and relieve people at work and in everyday life. What to expect In the Embedded and Distributed Systems group of the Department of Autonomy and Teleoperation, you will develop parts of the control software that is essential for the operation of the robot. This robot control system will be used in a space project on on-orbit servicing in the coming years. Your tasks Collaboration in the design and development of the robot controller for the operation of a robot in space Documentation of software architecture as well as module, integration and system tests of the developed software modules while ensuring compliance with the ECSS space standard for software development Participation in project meetings with the project partners Publication of the results in relevant specialist journals and conferences Your profil a university degree (Master's degree / university diploma) in engineering (e.g. in the field of robotics, electrical engineering), computer science or other degree programmes relevant to the job In-depth expertise in software engineering like versioning, code review, unit/integration testing, real-time operating systems and embedded systems In-depth knowledge of software development and programming in C and C++ Programming skills in Python Knowledge of agile software development, e.g. SCRUM Knowledge of continuous integration tools, e.g. Jenkins and Artifactory Very good written and spoken English skills Remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TVöD depending on qualifications and tasks assigned. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
