What awaits you? Perform and deliver accurate, high-quality metal analysis results and technical reports within agreed timelines to support business and project requirements. Act as the laboratory expert for metal characterization, compositional analysis, microstructure evaluation, and material performance assessments. Lead material failure investigations, including fractography, corrosion, wear, and metallurgical root cause analyses, and recommend corrective actions. Develop, validate, and continuously improve analytical methods and testing procedures for new materials, products, and applications. Operate and interpret results from advanced characterization equipment, including Optical Microscopy, SEM/EDS, XRD, EPMA, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, GD-MS, and hardness testing systems. Ensure laboratory data integrity, quality control, calibration, measurement traceability, and compliance with internal standards and accreditation requirements. Manage laboratory equipment, reference materials, external testing laboratories, and suppliers to maintain reliable and efficient analytical operations. Drive continuous improvement, provide technical consultation to cross-functional stakeholders, and support training and capability development within the laboratory team. What should you bring along? Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in metal analysis, materials characterization, failure investigation, or laboratory operations within the automotive, manufacturing, or research environment. Strong hands-on expertise with metallography, optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, XRD, EPMA, ICP-OES/ICP-MS, hardness testing, and other material characterization techniques. Proven experience in conducting root cause investigations involving material failures, fractures, corrosion, wear mechanisms, and metallurgical defects. Solid understanding of materials science principles, including phase transformations, heat treatment, microstructure-property relationships, and corrosion behavior. Experience in analytical method development, validation, laboratory quality systems, calibration practices, measurement traceability, and audit support activities. Familiarity with LIMS, laboratory documentation systems, data analysis tools, and technical report preparation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
