Position Summary The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing DevOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions that enable reliable and efficient delivery of cloud-based data and analytics platforms. Working within established DevOps and cloud architecture standards, this role collaborates with engineering, analytics, security, and infrastructure teams to automate deployments, improve operational efficiency, and enhance platform reliability. The Senior DevOps Engineer independently manages complex technical assignments, resolves deployment and infrastructure challenges, and contributes to the continuous improvement of DevOps practices across multiple projects. This position may lead DevOps activities for small projects or workstreams while supporting broader technology transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities CI/CD Design and Implementation Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to support efficient and reliable software and data platform deployments. Develop reusable pipeline templates and deployment approaches that align with established organizational standards. Support deployment automation for Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure-based services. Implement automated testing, validation, and deployment controls within CI/CD processes. Continuously improve deployment efficiency, stability, and release quality. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Design and implement infrastructure automation using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices. Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules supporting Azure cloud services and environments. Support infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and environment consistency across development, test, and production environments. Assist teams in adopting Infrastructure as Code methodologies and automation practices. Platform Support and Operations Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve CI/CD pipeline failures, deployment issues, and infrastructure-related incidents. Analyze recurring operational issues and recommend sustainable solutions and process improvements. Support environment management, deployment releases, and change implementation activities. Collaborate with technical teams to improve platform performance, reliability, and maintainability. Security, Compliance, and Governance Implement DevOps practices that align with security, compliance, and governance requirements. Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to support secure deployment processes and access controls. Help ensure proper management of secrets, service connections, permissions, and environment configurations. Support audit, traceability, and change management requirements within deployment processes. Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with developers, data engineers, platform teams, project managers, and business stakeholders to support project delivery objectives. Communicate technical recommendations and deployment considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Provide guidance on DevOps tools, processes, and deployment best practices. Build effective working relationships across geographically dispersed and cross-functional teams. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency. Contribute to the enhancement of DevOps standards, deployment methodologies, and engineering practices. Stay current with emerging cloud, DevOps, and automation technologies. Participate in knowledge sharing and mentoring activities within project teams. Required Skills Essential Technical Skills Strong experience with Azure DevOps including repositories, pipelines, service connections, environments, and release management. Experience designing and supporting YAML-based CI/CD pipelines. Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD solutions for Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory. Experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps principles, and deployment automation practices. Understanding of Azure cloud services, security concepts, networking fundamentals, and identity management. Experience integrating DevOps tools with solutions such as Jira, SonarQube, Git repositories, and testing frameworks. Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Professional Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently on complex assignments with limited supervision. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to influence technical decisions through data-driven recommendations. Strong planning, organization, and prioritization capabilities. Collaborative and customer-focused approach. Experience Essential Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, OR Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, or related disciplines. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation in Azure environments. Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional project teams. Experience supporting cloud-based data, analytics, or enterprise application platforms. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, and other Azure PaaS services. Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools. Experience with GitOps practices and automated deployment strategies. Azure, Terraform, DevOps, or cloud-related certifications. Experience supporting enterprise data and analytics platforms . Behavioral Competencies Demonstrates sound judgment when solving complex technical challenges. Adapts approach based on changing requirements and business priorities. Builds productive relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Communicates effectively across diverse audiences. Takes ownership of assigned work and follows through on commitments. Works independently and collaboratively within project teams. Supports global teams operating across multiple time zones.
