POSITION SUMMARY: The NPI Senior Purchasing Manager leads procurement activities for new product introductions, ensuring timely sourcing, supplier engagement, and cost optimization to support product launch timelines. This role bridges engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions to drive procurement excellence from concept to production. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Partner with R&D, engineering, and program management teams to understand product requirements and BOM changes. Execute sourcing strategies for new components and materials aligned with NPI timelines Act as the procurement lead in NPI project meetings, providing updates on sourcing status, risks, and mitigation plans. Collaborate with quality and manufacturing teams to ensure supplier readiness and compliance. Drive cost reduction initiatives through early supplier involvement and design-to-cost strategies. Assess and mitigate supply risks related to new technologies, sole sourcing, or long lead-time items. Support make-vs-buy decisions and localization strategies where applicable Ensure accurate and timely creation of purchase orders, supplier documentation, and ERP data setup. Support the transition from NPI to mass production, including supplier ramp-up and handover to commodity teams. Maintain procurement documentation and compliance with internal policies and external regulations Responsible for leading, coaching, and evaluating subordinate employees; this role holds authority in matters of hiring, disciplinary action, performance appraisal, promotion, and termination. Oversee and manage the change management, implementation, and execution. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies, and general duty of care. Has access to and handles confidential and sensitive business information, including but not limited to employee relations cases, compensation data, strategic plans, financial results, and trade secrets. Manage continuous improvement and automation effort for higher efficiency internally and externally with suppliers. Inventory optimization. Manage by influence. Crisis Management Other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang. Fast-paced, matrixed environment, high pressure with shifting priorities QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred. 8+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain, with at least 4 years in NPI or project-based purchasing Good knowledge of SAP. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOM structures, and product lifecycle management. Proven negotiation skills and experience working with global suppliers. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP). Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills. Good knowledge on Data Digitalization , Data Analysis, Power BI and Tableau.
