Ambu is currently looking for a Staff NPI Engineer (Process Engineering) to be based in Ambu Global Hub, Penang. Key responsibilities Your main responsibilities will include: Lead the development, industrialization, and continuous improvement of PCBA, box-build, and electromechanical manufacturing processes, ensuring products consistently meet quality, reliability, regulatory, and business requirements. Drive the application of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), testability, and error-proofing principles to establish robust and scalable manufacturing solutions. Provide technical leadership in the development and optimization of electronics assembly, PCBA integration, box-build assembly, soldering, inspection, and testing processes to achieve targeted yield, quality, and productivity performance. Act as the technical owner and primary engineering interface with contract manufacturer and suppliers, driving technical reviews, design discussions, issue resolution, risk management, and execution of industrialization activities. Partner with Automation teams and equipment suppliers to define manufacturing requirements, review machine concepts and designs, monitor development progress, and ensure equipment solutions meet performance, quality, and safety expectations. Lead the design, development, and qualification of assembly fixtures, soldering fixtures, PCBA checking jigs, test fixtures, vision inspection systems, and Poka-Yoke solutions to support product industrialization and manufacturing excellence. Drive feasibility studies, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability Studies (PCS), PFMEA, and risk assessments to establish capable, stable, and scalable manufacturing processes. Provide technical leadership for equipment qualification, FAT, SAT, process validation, and pilot build activities to ensure manufacturing readiness and successful implementation. Lead complex technical troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to resolve PCBA, box-build assembly, equipment, quality, yield, and throughput challenges. Champion manufacturing readiness by ensuring process development activities are effectively documented, validated, standardized, and maintained in compliance with Ambu Quality System and applicable regulatory requirements. Partner with Manufacturing Transfer Engineers and Operations teams to support product transfer, production ramp-up, process optimization, and manufacturing stabilization while ensuring achievement of operational targets. Drive engineering excellence through timely closure of NCRs, CAPAs, technical action items, and quality investigations while providing technical leadership across global cross-functional teams and supplier networks. Suggested candidate profile Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you poses the requirements below : Education Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. Experience Staff/Senior Process Engineer: Minimum 8-10 years of relevant manufacturing/process engineering experience. Essential Technical Expertise Good communication skills in English, Malay, Mandarin, written and spoken. Must be opened to handling different projects and tasks. Strong experience in electronics assembly and PCBA manufacturing processes. Experience with automated assembly equipment, vision inspection systems, test equipment, and production automation. Experience in supplier management and equipment development projects. Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, and equipment qualification. Practical knowledge of DOE, PFMEA, Process Validation, IQ/OQ/PQ, SPC, and Process Capability Studies. Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Experience in medical device, electronics, semiconductor, EMS, or highly regulated manufacturing environments is preferred. Willingness to travel extensively to supplier sites during critical project phases.
