Job Purpose With his expertise in Mechanical field, (Senior) Engineer, Mechanical shall provide advice, recommendations, and solutions to support the Company’s engineering activities related to all mechanical tasks both domestic and overseas projects/ assets and/or COMPANY new businesses from the feasibility study, conceptual design, up to basic and detailed engineering, construction, installation and commissioning and major modification work. The job holder must ensure that any problems raised by Engineering teams are handled properly in accordance with good engineering practice and international standard. Key Accountabilities • Provide advice to Engineering teams to determine feasibility, process/ design advantage, cost & time constraint and other technical or economic factors which may affect the project’s medium-term to long-term production process. Identify the problem areas and suggest the appropriated solutions/actions to Engineering team as necessary. • Compile relevant necessary data/ information to conduct analytical studies on specification and performance requirements considering medium-term and long-term solutions. • Provide advice/ recommendation on procurement strategies and participate in the procurement processes to obtain the most appropriated vendors for equipment, materials and services. Review bidder lists, pre-qualification, detailed contractor’s overall plans and provide recommendation to project teams. Participate in the bid evaluation and contractor’s selection. • Recommend corrective actions when the project performance deviates from the project direction/requirements. • Study, analyze and recommend modification/ construction options and solutions to the process that will enhance / optimize production at minimum costs and with proper safety considerations. Determine effect of such modification/ construction on the process and report feasibility of such modification/ construction. • When/ as required, participate in the technical committee meeting with internal and external parties to provide advice/ recommendation in own expertise. • When/ as required, participate in Vendor’s manufacturer/fabrication shop inspection, field pre-commissioning, commissioning, test run and start up of mechanical equipment. • Promotes and ensures an affective implementation of SSHE rules and engineering best practices. • Coach, motivate, and develop junior professionals and share knowledge to team. Job End Result • Accuracy, reliability and timeliness of advice, guidance and/ or recommendations provided to Engineering teams when required. • Efficiency and reliability of recommendations on modification/ construction options and solutions to mechanical equipments with regards to quality and cost effectiveness to enhance / optimize production at minimum costs and with proper safety considerations • Contribute to obtain the most appropriate contractors to carry out engineering modification/ construction works. • Safe and efficient operation through careful follow-up of activities. Prompt actions in emergency situations. • To ensure the engineering knowledge transfers to junior professionals. Professional Knowledge & Experience • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering. • At least 15 years’ experience in design and construction of large construction projects. • At least 12 years in upstream or midstream or downstream in oil and gas industry or petrochemical industry or power plant. • Good command of written and spoken English. • Knowledge of both green and brown fields in engineering and topside facility designs of the stationary mechanical systems and rotating machines, topside equipment, piping and support structures, corrosion/erosion, welding, QA/QC, construction codes & standards, offshore hook-up/commissioning and modification work. • Strong technical knowledge and field experiences in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), pre-commissioning, commissioning, test run and start up of mechanical equipment is a plus qualification. • Good computer skills. • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
