About the role: As a Senior Development Engineer – Power Generation, you'll partner with Development Managers to deliver complex infrastructure projects across firming energy, renewable energy and emerging data centre developments. This role is heavily focused on project engineering, technical due diligence, feasibility assessments, specification development and stakeholder engagement. You will contribute to major projects including power station developments and energy infrastructure initiatives across Australia, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support Origin's energy transition strategy. Why this role matters? Lead technical assessments, feasibility studies and due diligence for major energy projects. Develop technical specifications and manage engineering, procurement and construction scopes. Support the delivery of greenfield and brownfield power generation projects through the development phase. Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, regulators and external stakeholders. Identify, assess and manage technical risks to optimise project performance, cost and reliability. What will you bring? Experience in the energy sector and major infrastructure projects. Strong project engineering experience within power generation, firming energy (preferably gas turbines or gas engines) or similar industries. Expertise across development projects including technical design, risk management and project delivery. Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and influence technical outcomes. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
