Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer Location: Conyers, GA What we’re looking for: As a growing organization, we are looking for a motivated individual willing to work in a dynamic environment, with a passion for learning, improvement, documentation, and delivery of superior results. We are seeking a motivated control, software development, and technical professional interested in new developments that help drive industry-leading improvements into food and retail refrigeration. This Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for programming, designing and clearly documenting the proper operation and way to diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration issues and alarms and supporting deployment team with processes that ensure proper integration of all our products and processes. This will require a clear ability to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, controls of commercial refrigeration systems. What you’ll be responsible for in this role: Develop programs and tools to meet product and customer’s needs (i.e. Copeland E2/3, Danfoss SM800A, Carel PR300,/ CPCO). Engage with Engineers on the key deployment strategy to get our products into the field. Assist in development of tools and features used for customer system integration. Design the troubleshooting trees for refrigeration systems and controls based on how engineering applies those controls to our products. Design the sequencing and method of tests to break a list of possible failure causes into a sequence of tests to reduce the list to a root cause through elimination for each controls alarm. Independently develop controls strategies for refrigeration systems Continuously improve testing sequences based on field service engineers and available use and warranty data. Collect, define, document and apply customer requirements for controls strategy and integration. Make recommendations for controls programming alarm thresholds which will improve the accuracy and usefulness of alarms for our customers. What are the basic qualifications? BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering. Or have 7 years or more experience programming, troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues with electrical and controls systems. What are the preferred qualifications? Knowledge of Refrigeration and HVAC fluid mechanics is highly desired. Must have Refrigeration Controls programming and deployment experience. Controls integration of different customer interfacing systems a plus. To be a great fit for the role: Must have great communication skills and be able to translate complex systems into easy to understand and follow steps. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
