The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices. Purpose of Position Provide engineering support for all plant production and facility equipment to support daily operations while leading projects that improve efficiency, reduce costs, enhance quality, or increase throughput. Day to Day Responsibilities: Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams including union trades, operators, safety personnel, and various engineering disciplines to support production needs through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization driving root cause analysis and repair of equipment. Manage and support critical engineering and development projects through design, installation, testing, and optimization phases. Project Management through all phases including project initiation, scope development, funding, and execution of small to medium scaled projects ($20k - $2M) to enable production improvements required by the business. Draft and review technical documentation, equipment layouts, SOPs, and mechanical schematics. Collaborate with division and company resources in technology and engineering to enhance project effectiveness. Partner with teams on new product and process launches, raw material changes, and equipment design modifications. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, mechatronics, industrial, robotics, or related field. Minimum 3 years of engineering experience Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to apply hands-on experience across a wide range of applications. Experience supporting or leading technical projects. Skilled in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and drawing actionable conclusions from data. Results-driven with a high level of commitment to achieving goals. Ability to work extended hours as required. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
