R&D unit in KTI is responsible for developing digital services at KONE. Its the development engine for our Digital Services such as KONE 24/7 Connected Services, Office Flow and Partnership Ecosystem. KONE moves 2 billion people every day and that means our services can really make cities better places to live Why this role We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Component Test Engineer to support validation and qualification of mechanical components and subsystems. The role involves developing and executing test plans, designing test setups, analyzing test data, investigating failures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance, reliability, safety, and compliance. Beyond validation activities, the engineer will be responsible for developing advanced test rigs and automated test setups, improving laboratory capabilities, and driving innovative testing approaches to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. The role provides an opportunity to elevate mechanical testing practices through automation, digitalization, and continuous improvement initiatives. What will you be doing Work with design and development teams to understand product specifications and Requirements. Develop Test plan, Test Cases, Test Environment and execute the test for Mechanical components Set up and maintain test benches, fixtures, instruments, and data acquisition systems. Perform test data analysis and prepare comprehensive test reports and communicate results to cross-functional teams. Design and develop advanced test setups, fixtures, and automated systems to improve test efficiency and accuracy. Ensure testing aligns with relevant standards such as IS, EN 81, ISO, IEC and internal company specifications. Perform failure analysis and experiments to determine root cause of product failures at system and component levels and work with design and quality to drive corrective and preventive actions. Maintain lab safety, 5S practices and propose improvements in test methods and setups. Required Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals. Hands-on Knowledge of Mechanical Testing equipment and sensors (Universal Testing Machines (UTM), strain gauges, extensometers, Load cells, LVDTs, DAQ systems. Basic proficiency in CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) skills for test fixture design. Familiarity with new product development life cycle and change management processes Experience in test planning, test case design, test execution, and defect management. Experience in test environment setup and debugging Exposure to fatigue, thermal and environmental testing is a plus. Ability to analyze test data and draw engineering conclusions to support product validation and improvement activities. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of DOE, FMEA, RCA, and reliability engineering techniques. Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools and basic Python knowledge is an advantage. Exposure to automation of test setups using sensors, DAQ systems, PLCs, or software-based control systems. Are you the one B.E./ M.E. in Mechanical Engineering. 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design, testing and Test Fixtures development Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
