Industry: Manufacturing Location: Karnataka Process Engineer (Bhadravathi Unit) About the Role ABOUT THE ROLE: We are looking for a hands-on Process Excellence & QA Specialist to drive productivity improvements, eliminate defects (burns, steam bubbles, warping), and establish operational standards for our Areca palm leaf tableware manufacturing plant in Shivamogga. You will be responsible for standardizing raw leaf conditioning, defining press parameter standards, optimizing mold designs, and leading the QC team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Process Optimization & Productivity Improvement: Identify bottlenecks across raw leaf soaking, washing, conditioning, pressing, trimming, and packaging. Implement process changes to increase daily yield per line and reduce cycle times. Analyze machine and mold designs; collaborate with maintenance/tooling to suggest mold or press modifications for faster heat transfer and higher throughput. 2. Standardization & SOP Creation: Create end-to-end Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Leaf Washing (wash duration, water change cycles) and Leaf Conditioning (moisture retention, drying times). Establish exact SKU-wise process parameters for Molding Temperature, Dwell/Baking Time, and Hydraulic Pressure settings. Standardize post-cure and stack-height measurement processes to maintain consistent density and packaging specs. 3. Defect Analysis & Root Cause Elimination: Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to eliminate defect modes like burn marks, steam bubbles, cracking, and shape distortion. Train machine operators on parameter adjustments when processing variable sheath thicknesses. 4. Quality Assurance Leadership: Direct supervision of the Quality Control (QC) team; set up clear inline inspection protocols and final AQL criteria. Work closely with Production Engineers to ensure shift operators adhere strictly to SOPs. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial/Production Engineering, or Polymer Science. Experience: 3-6 years in Process Engineering, QA, or Process Excellence within continuous or batch manufacturing (Thermoforming, Pulp Molding, Rubber Compression Molding, Laminates/Plywood, or Food Packaging preferred). Technical Competencies: Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5S, RCA), SOP Drafting, Thermo-hydraulic process parameters, Process Mapping, OEE & Scrap Reduction. Fluency in Kannada (required for floor operator interaction) and English/Hindi (for documentation and management reporting).
