SCM Manager

Role Purpose The SCM Manager will lead end-to-end Procurement and Supply Chain operations for the Bangalore unit, ensuring cost optimization, vendor reliability, material availability, and process efficiency across Machining, Fabrication, and Sheet Metal operations. The role will also manage and develop the SCM team while driving strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with business goals. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Cost Management *Own sourcing and purchasing for raw materials, components, fabricated parts, machined items, and consumables *Drive Zero-Based Costing initiatives to continuously reduce material and conversion costs*Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and long-term rate agreements with key suppliers *Monitor price trends, cost drivers, and market intelligence Vendor Development & Performance *Identify, onboard, and develop new vendors for machining, fabrication, sheet metal, and bought-out parts *Improve vendor quality, delivery adherence, and cost competitiveness*Conduct regular vendor audits, scorecards, and performance reviews *Build alternate supplier base to mitigate supply risk SCM Operations & Planning *Ensure smooth material planning, procurement scheduling, inventory control, and logistics coordination *Work closely with PPC, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to align supply with production plans *Reduce inventory holding while maintaining high service levels *Manage shortages, escalations, and critical material planning Process & Manufacturing Knowledge *Strong working understanding of: oMachining processes (turning, milling, grinding, subcontract operations) oFabrication & welding oSheet metal processes (laser cutting, bending, punching, assemblies) *Evaluate make vs buy decisions and supplier manufacturing capabilities SAP & Systems *Lead all SCM transactions in SAP MM module including: oPR to PO cycles oGRN & invoice verification oVendor master & material master coordination oMIS and cost reports *Ensure process discipline and data accuracy in SAP Team Leadership *Lead and mentor the SCM/Purchase team at Bangalore plant *Set KPIs for cost, delivery, inventory turns, and vendor performance *Build process-driven culture and accountability. Qualification & Experience *BE/BTech (Mechanical/Industrial preferred) + Optional MBA (Operations/Supply Chain - desirable) *10-15 years of experience in Purchase/SCM within heavy engineering, machine manufacturing, or industrial equipment environment *Minimum 3-5 years in a leadership role handling plant SCM operations. experience18 A client of Randstad India .
