Learn more about our culture and career opportunities at www.DiscoverEHL.com (http://www.DiscoverEHL.com) This position underwrites mortgage loan applications evaluating loans to determine credit risk, minimizes risk and loss, as well as ensuring eligibility for sale to the secondary market. This role reviews property appraisal to determine acceptability of collateral. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Underwrite FHA, VA, and Conventional loans, including evaluation of property and appraisal. Provide guidance and mentoring to Loan Coordinators (processors). Provide back-up underwriting to other underwriters within the department, as necessary. Assist Loan Officers and Loan Coordinators with borrower qualifying scenarios. Keep current on FHA/VA/Conventional changes and underwriting guidelines. Proficient in underwriting automated systems: LP, DU & others. Assist in clearing underwriting conditions and meeting doc draw, funding and lock dates. All functions shall be conducted in a manner keeping with the spirit and intent of EHLs Guiding Values, Balanced Stewardship, and Convictions. Responsible for proactive communication with management, operations, and production, with respect to challenges or opportunities. Respond to Quality Control Audits from internal departments as well as outside agencies. Ability to problem solve and seek solutions to challenges that arise during the underwriter of a loan. Adhere to applicable agency, investor, and internal credit and property guidelines. Provide review times that meet or exceed company expectations. Provide continuous customer service to all loan production staff. Other duties as assigned. Performance Expectations: Perform all actions in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and convictions of EHL. Provide a WOW experience and effectively communicate with associates, clients, partners, and vendors via phone, written communication and/or in person. Seek Feedback: Host regular and timely communication with associates and Manager. Be willing to assume additional responsibilities/duties/projects as they arise. Have strong organization skills, the ability to learn quickly, and accuracy/timeliness in completing tasks. Perform all actions in accordance with policies and procedures of the company. Expected to meet productivity guidelines of the position. Effectively use software specific for the position and Microsoft office products. Work well with other members of the EHL team and be willing to fill in when needed. Specific Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities Required for Position: High School Graduate or equivalent Minimum 3+ years mortgage Underwriter in all aspects of FHA, VA and conventional lending 2-3 years Wholesale lending experience .
