About the Role We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Backend Focus) to help build and scale the backend systems that power Fameo. This is a backend-first role with full-stack responsibilities. You'll own APIs, data models, integrations, payment workflows, and backend architecture while contributing to our web platform whenever needed. You'll work closely with our Flutter developer, product team, QA, and founders to design, build, and ship production-ready features. This is an opportunity to become one of the early engineers shaping both the product and the engineering culture. What You'll Do Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and databases.Build and own secure payment and escrow-based transaction systems.Design transactional workflows with strong data consistency and concurrency handling.Integrate third-party services such as payment gateways, authentication, KYC/e-sign, and notifications.Design optimized database schemas, migrations, indexes, and queries.Implement secure authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.Build APIs consumed by our Flutter mobile application and contribute to our web platform when required.Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.Review code and maintain high standards for performance, scalability, security, and documentation.Support deployments, monitoring, debugging, and production issue resolution.Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to continuously improve the platform. What We're Looking For 68 years of experience building and shipping production backend systems.Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs using modern backend technologies.Full-stack capability with the ability to contribute to frontend development when required.Experience building payment systems, financial transaction workflows, or escrow platforms.Strong understanding of relational database design, transactions, indexing, and performance optimization.Experience integrating third-party APIs and payment gateways.Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, validation, and rate limiting.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization, and scalable architectures.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, and modern development workflows.Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar while maintaining strong engineering judgment and code quality.Strong communication, ownership mindset, and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have Experience building backend systems for Flutter applications.Experience with Redis, caching, queues, and background jobs.Experience working in an early-stage startup or product company.Familiarity with microservices and distributed systems. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
