Job Summary We are seeking a highly competent Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering for hydropower and pumped storage projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, and design of foundations, underground structures, slopes, and associated civil works. The role involves supporting projects from feasibility studies through detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with applicable national and international standards. Key Responsibilities Plan, supervise, and review geotechnical site investigations, including boreholes, geophysical surveys, in-situ testing, and laboratory testing. Interpret geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical data for engineering design. Carry out geotechnical analysis and design for: Dam and barrage foundations Intake and outlet structures Headrace and tailrace tunnels Surge shafts and pressure shafts Underground powerhouses and transformer caverns Penstock foundations and anchor blocks Switchyards and project infrastructure Pumped storage upper and lower reservoirs Perform foundation assessments, bearing capacity analysis, settlement analysis, seepage analysis, and slope stability evaluations. Assess rock mass characteristics using RMR, Q-System, GSI, and other recognized rock classification systems. Design excavation support systems, rock bolting, shotcrete, retaining structures, grouting, drainage systems, and ground improvement measures. Prepare and review geotechnical design reports, design calculations, technical specifications, and tender documents. Coordinate with geological, civil, structural, hydraulic, hydromechanical, and electromechanical engineering teams to ensure integrated project design. Review contractor submissions, construction methodologies, and geotechnical instrumentation plans. Provide technical support during excavation, foundation treatment, underground construction, and commissioning activities. Monitor geotechnical performance through instrumentation data and recommend corrective measures where necessary. Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, value engineering studies, and technical risk assessments. Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, and safety requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline is preferred. Additional Information Proficiency in engineering software such as PLAXIS, FLAC/FLAC3D, Rocscience Suite (RS2, RS3, Slide2), GeoStudio, MIDAS GTS NX, or equivalent geotechnical analysis software. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office applications. Indian Standards (IS Codes) related to geotechnical engineering. BIS guidelines for dams and underground structures. ICOLD Bulletins and Guidelines. International standards such as Eurocodes, ASTM, and relevant engineering practices.
