We will be looking for an hourly contractor that has the following Microsoft Business Central Deep Understanding of Business Central Architecture - Knowledge of Business Central SaaS architecture, licensing, and environment structure. - Familiarity with: - Production vs. sandbox environments - Tenant management - Update/upgrade cycles and extension compatibility Module Configuration Expertise - Strong hands-on skills in configuring core BC modules: Financials (Required for most implementations) - General Ledger setup - Chart of Accounts - Posting groups & posting setup - Cash management - Fixed assets Operational Modules (Based on Project Scope) - Sales & Purchasing - Inventory & Item tracking - Warehouse configuration (Basic, WMS, Directed Put-Away & Pick) - Jobs/Project Accounting - Manufacturing (if applicable) - Service Management Business Process Mapping & Solution Design - Ability to translate client business processes into BC configuration. - Knowledge of industry best practices (distribution, manufacturing, project-based orgs, etc.). - Skills in creating: - Fit/Gap analyses - Functional design documents (FDDs) - Process workflows Data Migration Skills - Ability to plan and execute data migration cycles. - Strong knowledge of: - Configuration Packages / RapidStart - Data templates, mapping, and validation - Import/export workflows - Identifying data issues and dependencies - Understanding data structures for: - Customers, vendors, items - Opening balances - Historical transactions (if required) Integration Knowledge Not a developer-level requirement, but an implementation consultant should understand: - Business Central APIs (standard OData and REST endpoints) - Basic setup of integrations via: - Power Automate - 3rd party connectors - Web service configuration - Understanding common integration patterns: - ERP CRM - ERP eCommerce - ERP WMS - ERP Payroll Power Platform Competency - Implementation consultants are expected to leverage the Microsoft ecosystem: Power Automate - Build or configure workflows - Connect BC data and approvals Power BI - Connect BC datasets - Build basic dashboards - Create data models or DAX formulas (nice to have) Power Apps (optional) - Basic familiarity when used to extend BC capabilities Reporting Skills - Ability to configure RDLC and Word report layouts (not developer-level editing). - Experience with: - Jet Reports - Power BI - Standard BC reports and analysis views Environment Management & Administration - Create and refresh sandboxes - Manage permissions & security roles - Understand extension deployment and compatibility - Coordinate with technical teams for: - AppSource extension installation - Custom extension deployment - Hotfixes & upgrades Testing and Deployment Skills - Create detailed UAT test scripts - Assist with regression and functional testing - Validate workflows, posting flows, and business rules - Support go-live cutover activities AL & Development Awareness (Not full coding) - Even though implementation consultants dont develop full extensions, they must understand: - What AL Extensions are - How customizations impact upgrades - Event-driven model (subscribers/publishers) - How to communicate requirements to developers - How to read basic AL code (optional but valuable) SQL & Data Structure Understanding - More relevant for hybrid SaaS/on-prem implementations: - SQL table structure awareness - Ability to analyze data relationships - Understanding flow fields and keys General Technical Skills - Strong Excel proficiency: - Pivot tables - Data cleanup - Import templates - Familiarity with: - Azure Active Directory/Entra ID - Security groups - Understanding cloud/ERP systems data concepts: - Master data - Transactional data - Integrations & APIs - Data governance .
