Job Description Cloud Operations (CloudOps) Engineering Intern Hybrid/Remote ABOUT CHEGGWe put students first. Our mission is to help every student achieve their best, in school and beyond. ROLE SUMMARYThis is not your typical internship. On Chegg's CloudOps team, you'll work with a modern cloud infrastructure stack Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines using AI-powered development tools like Claude as part of your everyday workflow. You'll join a small, high-leverage team of SREs and cloud automation engineers who keep production infrastructure running for every other engineering team at Chegg. Your changes will ship to production and directly support systems that reach millions of students. You will be surrounded by experienced infrastructure and reliability engineers who will challenge your thinking, accelerate your growth, and help you become a stronger engineer. WHAT YOU'LL DOInfrastructure & AutomationContribute to Infrastructure-as-Code used to provision and manage cloud resources across multiple environments.Write automation scripts and tooling that support cloud operations access provisioning, cost optimization, and resource lifecycle management.Help maintain configuration-management tooling and containerized/orchestrated workloads.Reliability & OperationsSupport day-to-day cloud operations: access requests, monitoring and alerting hygiene, and routine maintenance across cloud accounts.Learn observability practices structured logging, metrics, and alerting and help improve signal-to-noise in production monitoring.Participate in cost-optimization and security/compliance initiatives, such as resource tagging, rightsizing, and access reviews.Collaboration & DeliveryShip infrastructure changes safely through CI/CD pipelines, with code review and automated checks.Collaborate with engineering teams across the company who depend on CloudOps for infrastructure support.Participate in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions to build engineering judgment.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORRequired QualificationsSolid foundation in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, Go, etc.) and basic scripting.Understanding of fundamental data structures, algorithms, and networking concepts.Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.Eagerness to learn cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-Code practices from the ground up.Strong communication skills and a collaborative, feedback-driven mindset.Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude) and able to leverage them to speed up development.Nice to HaveExposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).Familiarity with a public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).Exposure to containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).Familiarity with configuration-management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.Interest in observability/monitoring tools (metrics, logging, alerting).WHAT WE OFFERCompetitive intern compensation, mentorship from senior SREs and cloud engineers, and dedicated 1:1 coaching.Meaningful project ownership your infrastructure and automation changes ship to production and support systems reaching millions of students.Opportunity to work across a broad cloud technology stack with hands-on exposure to real production operations. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
