About the role FTA is Kimbals in-house web platform for validating smart-meter firmware against a library of test cases. Youll own the server side of FTA - the APIs, data, job orchestration, and reporting - and the glue that connects the web application to the meter-facing test engine. This is backend work with a foot in test automation: youll help turn a partly-manual workflow into UI-driven, automated test runs. What youll build Youll design and build the backend services that power the platform APIs, data models, and the workflows that tie the web application to the automated test-execution engine. Typical work includes: REST APIs and database models for the core entities of the platform. A job/queue system that turns manual configuration steps into UI-driven, one-click test runs. Orchestration of the automated test runner, with live status streamed back to the interface. Server-side evaluation logic for test pass/fail rules, and its evolution toward a cleaner, more maintainable model. Report generation that converts raw output into usable, well-structured formats. Integration with external systems and APIs. Required skills Solid C# / .NET (or a comparable backend language such as Java or Go, with willingness to work in .NET), building REST APIs. SQL / relational databases schema design, queries, and migrations. Python to orchestrate and extend automated test suites. Job queues / asynchronous execution, webhooks, and CI triggers (Jenkins or similar). Git and clean version-control practice. Comfort working on Linux. Ability to read an existing codebase and design against it interpreting a small expression language, introspecting registries or generated code Nice to have Exposure to DLMS/COSEM (IEC 62056), OBIS codes, or other device/industrial protocols. Serial / embedded comms concepts RS485, optical probes, serial-over-TCP, latency debugging. Smart-metering or IS-standard domain knowledge (IS 16444 / 13779 / 14697) well train the right coder. Raspberry Pi, secure tunneling (Cloudflare Tunnel / Tailscale), or remote-lab setups. Building or migrating a rules / criteria engine (expression parsing, AST). That number includes positions in India (9,577), Poland (3,429), the United States (1,753), Singapore (787), and Brazil (779). If you're looking to move or work remotely, check which countries match your goals — then filter WorkMundi by location to see what's actually hiring near you.

Most developer ads you'll see are written in English: 18,397 of the 24,795. That doesn't tell you whether the job itself requires you to speak English or work in English daily, so read each posting carefully. Don't assume the language of the ad matches the language of the team.

The employers posting the most developer roles are Link Group (369 jobs), Upvanta (257), jobgether (226), and OfferZen (212). If you're applying to any of these, research their hiring patterns. They move fast and post often, which means they're either scaling hard or replacing people who didn't fit.

In your interview, expect this: 'Walk me through the last time you had to debug something that took you more than an hour. What was it, what did you try first, and what would you do differently?' Hiring managers ask this to see if you think systematically or just try random fixes. Have a real example ready with specifics.
