We are hiring Node.js / TypeScript (2 to 4 YOE) Backend Developers to build modern platforms on the Microsoft Azure stack for our North American clients. You will own APIs, data, quality and delivery end-to-end, work directly with our clients on design, demos and hand-offs, and use modern AI tooling responsibly to raise both velocity and craft. Strong CS fundamentals, rigorous analytical thinking, and a confident client-facing presence is essential. WHAT YOU'LL DO APIs & services on Azure - Design and ship REST, event-driven and gRPC services in Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS Fastify Express Bun where fit); contract-first with OpenAPI / AsyncAPI. - Own the data layer across Azure SQL / PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB / Azure Cache for Redis; design for partitioning, RU cost, indexing and query performance. - Deploy on Azure Container Apps Functions App Service AKS; instrument with Application Insights + OpenTelemetry. AI-assisted development & dev-owned quality - Use AI coding agents (Copilot / Claude Code / Cursor) profitably and responsibly; ship code with tests, not tickets. - Where the product calls for it, build AI features using MCP tools/servers, function-calling, structured output and RAG on Azure AI Search + Cosmos DB vector. - Own unit integration contract tests (Vitest / Jest / Pact) and defect life-cycle in Azure Boards / JIRA; where AI features exist, run LLM evals and guardrails. Delivery, CI/CD & security - Trunk-based Git workflows and PR reviews on Azure Repos / GitHub; Azure DevOps Pipelines for build, test, scan and release. - Enforce SonarQube, GitHub Advanced Security / CodeQL / Semgrep / Snyk, SBOM & SLSA supply-chain hygiene, OWASP hardening. - Track and improve DORA metrics: deploy frequency, lead time, MTTR, change-failure rate. Client engagement - Independently run status calls, design walkthroughs, demos and RCAs with our North American clients. - Turn ambiguous tasks into clear work items; surface trade-offs early; drive decisions with data. ESSENTIAL SKILLS - CS fundamentals data structures, algorithms, complexity, networking, distributed-systems,primitives (idempotency, consistency, back-pressure). - Rigorous critical & analytical thinking first-principles reasoning, decomposing ambiguous problems, separating root cause from symptom, quantifying trade-offs, defending design decisions under scrutiny. - Node.js + TypeScript in depth type-system fluency (generics, discriminated unions, narrowing) and Node runtime internals; hands-on with NestJS / Fastify / Express (bonus: Bun). - Type-safe backend patterns Zod / Valibot for validation, Prisma / Drizzle for data access, tRPC where applicable. - REST GraphQL gRPC, OpenAPI, OAuth 2.0 / OIDC / JWT, RBAC/ABAC. - SQL & NoSQL on Azure Azure SQL / PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB (SQL / Mongo APIs) + Azure Cache for Redis; workload-appropriate store selection. - Azure app stack Container Apps Functions App Service Service Bus Event Hubs API Management Key Vault Application Insights. - Azure DevOps Repos Boards Pipelines Artifacts; Docker; secure delivery pipelines. - AI-in-SDLC judgment when to use AI, when not to; IP, data-protection and prompt-hygiene discipline. - Exceptional English communication verbal and written and a confident client-facing presence. HIGHLY DESIRABLE - Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS); Bicep / Terraform, IaC. - Azure AI Foundry (Agent Service Prompt Flow) and vector-search patterns. - Advanced observability OpenTelemetry, Prometheus + Grafana, ELK. - Broader cloud (AWS / GCP) alongside Azure. - Production LLM integrations RAG, agentic workflows, evals-in-CI. - Certifications AZ-204, AZ-400, or equivalents. REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor of Engineering / Technology in Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent discipline. - 2 to 4 years of hands-on Node.js / TypeScript backend experience. - Direct North American client-facing communication is part of the role. - A deep thinker who reasons from fundamentals and challenges assumptions constructively. - Fluent with AI in your day-to-day treats it as a force-multiplier while safeguarding correctness, security and IP; equally clear on when not to use it. - A quality owner ships tested, observable, secure code; not throw it over the wall. - Client-facing and calm articulate with senior stakeholders across time zones. - High ownership, professionalism, and work ethics.
