Position Overview The Deputy Medical Superintendent is the senior-most medical administrator of the hospital, responsible for overseeing clinical operations, ensuring quality patient care, and maintaining compliance with medical and ethical standards. This role bridges medical leadership with hospital administration to achieve excellence in healthcare delivery. Key Responsibilities Clinical Governance Supervise all medical, nursing, and paramedical staff. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, ethical practices, and patient safety standards. Monitor quality of care and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Hospital Administration Collaborate with the Hospital Administrator/CEO on strategic planning and policy development. Coordinate between clinical departments and administrative units for smooth operations. Oversee hospital infrastructure, equipment, and emergency preparedness. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure compliance with national healthcare regulations, medical council guidelines, and accreditation standards (NABH, JCI, etc.). Maintain proper documentation for audits, inspections, and medico-legal cases. Act as the custodian of hospital licenses and statutory approvals. Human Resource & Training Guide recruitment and performance evaluation of medical staff. Promote continuing medical education (CME) and staff development programs. Mentor junior doctors and foster a culture of professional growth. Patient Care & Relations Address patient grievances and ensure ethical resolution. Promote patient-centered care and uphold hospital reputation. Engage with community health programs and outreach initiatives. Emergency & Crisis Management Lead hospital response during epidemics, disasters, or mass casualty events. Ensure readiness of emergency services and critical care units. Qualifications MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS with MBA/MHA or equivalent postgraduate medical qualification. Minimum 8+ years of clinical experience, with hospital administration/leadership. Strong knowledge of healthcare laws, accreditation standards, and hospital operations. Competencies Leadership and decision-making ability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ethical integrity and patient-first mindset. Strategic thinking with operational efficiency. Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams under pressure.
