Job Purpose The Senior SFCC Backend Developer drives the architecture, development, and operation of the server-side systems that power our headless commerce storefronts. In this role you will get to Design, build and extend SFCC backend (OCAPI, SCAPI) endpoints to exposeproduct, catalog, cart, checkout and customer data as RESTful endpoints tailored for PWA frontends. Actively participate in daily brainstorming and agile ceremonies within a distributed team to solve complex functional dependencies. Provide accurate effort estimates and conduct rigorous code reviews to maintain high-scale commerce standards. Collaborate with the frontend team on integration, API caching layers (CDN,Redis) and preload strategies to meet PWA performance and offline requirements. Produce clear API specifications, architecture diagrams, and system runbooks to ensure seamless frontend-backend alignment. Facilitate and optimize SFCC Jobs to ensure backend processes support high-scale, real-time commerce data availability. Conduct code reviews, refactor legacy cartridges into modular services, and write clear technical docs (architecture diagrams, API specs, release notes). Translate complex functional logic and system dependencies into clear technical documentation to align distributed project teams and streamline the deployment of modular services. Recommend enhancements to development workflows, testing frameworks and deployment automation to accelerate headless-commerce delivery. Your skills and qualifications 5+ years web development using modern JavaScript (ES6+), with strong OOP and modular design principles 3+ years SFCC experience, including building or migrating to headless/OCAPI-driven architectures (beyond bug fixes).; Design and implement bespoke SCAPI and OCAPI hooks to intercept andaugment standard commerce flows, such as calculating complex promotional logic or integrating real-time loyalty data. Extend the backend to act as a Backend-for-Frontend (BFF), ensuring JSON payloads are optimized for mobile performance and offline-sync compatibility. Ability to optimize hook execution time and server-side caching strategies to ensure minimal latency for PWA Kit's high-speed frontend requirements. Design patterns: factory, observer, decorator and other best practices for high- scale commerce systems Deep understanding of Payment, Shipping and external cartridge integration. Expert-level management of Site Preferences, Custom Objects, and Services Framework to ensure a scalable and maintainable system architecture. Experience in integrations with other systems through REST or SOAP. Solid understanding of SFCC Jobs and able to facilitate them optimizing performance. Experience with working on complex functional software projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies. Configure and optimize Search Indexes, Sorting Rules, and Recommender logic specifically for consumption via Einstein and SCAPI endpoints. Experience implementing SLAS for secure, high-scale shopper authentication Optimize site performance, scalability , security and reliability. Experience with any VCS (Git is preferred). Able to setup git workflows, build tools (Webpack, rollup), create pipelines and deploy using Jenkins or any other tool. Ability to produce clear API documentations, runbooks and system diagrams. Understanding of JSON, CSV, XML files formats; Familiarity with PWA concepts like service workers, App Shell, caching strategies, offline data sync.
