General Manager Construction Objective The General Manager Construction is responsible for leading and managing the complete lifecycle of construction projects, including pre-construction, execution, commissioning, and project closeout. The role focuses on project planning, cost optimization, quality assurance, resource management, safety compliance, and timely delivery of projects within approved budgets. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee day-to-day construction activities across all ongoing and upcoming projects. Submit daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports to senior management in prescribed formats. Manage overall administration of past, present, and future construction projects. Prepare project budgets and ensure effective implementation and cost control. Ensure timely completion of projects through effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring. Define clear roles, responsibilities, deliverables, and timelines for project teams and contractors. Review, verify, and approve contractor bills and ensure timely payments as per contractual agreements. Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates based on project designs and specifications. Maintain databases related to market conditions, labor rates, material costs, and project cost benchmarks. Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation as required under JDA and statutory norms. Develop and maintain project dashboards, spreadsheets, MIS reports, and presentations using Microsoft Excel and Word. Monitor project progress, identify risks and opportunities, and report key updates to senior management. Ensure proper documentation and approval of all changes in scope, drawings, specifications, and work orders. Monitor productivity, quality, and schedule performance and implement corrective measures where required. Review manpower planning, resource allocation, project timelines, and forecast completion requirements. Ensure adherence to company safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across all projects. Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, government authorities, and other stakeholders. Ensure customer satisfaction through quality execution and timely delivery. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction quality, progress, safety, and compliance. Perform additional assignments and strategic initiatives as directed by management. Desired Candidate Profile Education Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) Technical Skills Project Planning & Scheduling Budgeting & Cost Control Construction Management Contract Administration Billing & Vendor Management Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC) Resource & Manpower Planning Safety Management Risk Assessment & Mitigation MIS Reporting & Documentation JDA/Regulatory Compliance AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera (preferred) Advanced Microsoft Excel and MS Office Key Competencies Leadership & Team Management Strategic Planning Decision Making Problem Solving Communication & Stakeholder Management Negotiation Skills Time Management Attention to Detail Result Orientation
