Operating in a shift model to ensure 24-hour coverage, this role is responsible for maintaining the reliability, performance, and availability of AIX workloads supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 applications. The engineer will contribute to automation initiatives that reduce manual toil and improve consistency of operations across the estate. Key ResponsibilitiesLPAR Operations and Monitoring (Approximately 40%) - Perform day-to-day administration of AIX LPARs, including provisioning, decommissioning, and resource allocation. - Monitor system health, availability, and performance across enterprise AIX environments. - Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting LPAR stability and operational performance. - Maintain system availability in accordance with Tier 1 and Tier 2 service level agreements (SLAs). - Perform capacity adjustments and coordinate infrastructure changes as required. - Ensure operational documentation remains current and accurate. OS Patching and Maintenance (Approximately 25%) - Execute AIX operating system patching using Network Installation Manager (NIM). - Apply Technology Levels (TLs), Service Packs (SPs), and PTF bundles following approved change management processes. - Validate successful patch implementation through post-maintenance health checks. - Support maintenance planning and execute scheduled maintenance activities during approved windows. - Maintain patch compliance and system currency across managed environments.
