Senior C++ Developer (UNIX & Cryptography) Remote, India | 6 months contract with possible extension About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior C++ Developer with strong UNIX systems programming expertise and a background in cryptography and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). This is an excellent opportunity to work on mission-critical enterprise systems where security, reliability, and performance are paramount. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing secure applications, integrating cryptographic services, and supporting high-availability environments within a structured delivery framework. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance C++ applications on UNIX-based platforms. Write clean, efficient, reusable, and maintainable code for mission-critical systems. Develop, optimize, and support UNIX Shell scripts (Bash, Korn Shell, or POSIX Shell) for automation, batch processing, monitoring, and operational tasks. Implement and maintain robust cryptographic solutions to protect sensitive data both at rest and in transit. Configure, integrate, and support Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for secure key management and cryptographic operations. Develop interfaces to HSM platforms using industry-standard APIs such as PKCS#11, Microsoft CNG, and vendor-specific APIs. Support secure key generation, storage, rotation, encryption, decryption, and digital signing processes. Collaborate with architecture, security, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions. Participate in system testing, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support activities. Produce and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and operational procedures. Contribute to release management, change control, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills & Experience Strong hands-on experience in C++ application development within UNIX/Linux environments. Solid understanding of UNIX systems programming concepts. Extensive experience with Shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, or POSIX Shell). Strong knowledge of cryptography principles, encryption algorithms, digital certificates, and key management practices. Experience working with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) such as: Thales Safe Net Utimaco Similar enterprise HSM platforms Experience integrating HSMs using PKCS#11, Microsoft CNG, or vendor-specific APIs. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills. Understanding of secure software development practices and operational risk management. Experience working in structured delivery environments with formal testing and release processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
