Position Summary The Staff Accountant role at LCBM is responsible for supporting the financial operations of our clients dynamic music organizations and operations. This role handles day-to-day accounting functions such as accounts payable and receivable, royalty tracking, commission reporting, tour accounting, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant works closely with the business management team to ensure accurate financial data, timely payments, and compliance with industry specific contracts and regulations. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with an understanding of music industry revenue streams, including royalties, advances, and distribution income, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a range of accounting tasks, including: Maintain general ledger accounts for multiple artist and client entities, ensuring accuracy and proper classification of transactions Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, client disbursements, and deposit tracking Prepare and reconcile bank, credit card, and tour settlement accounts Track and account for music industry income streams, including royalties, touring revenue, merchandising, publishing, and licensing income Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and client reports Support royalty accounting by recording statements, verifying calculations, and investigating discrepancies Assist Business Manager with the management of cash flow reporting and budgeting for artists, touring activities, and business entities Coordinate with business managers, tour managers, and external partners to gather financial data and ensure timely reporting Maintain accurate records of contracts, advances, and recoupment schedules Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Support tax preparation by organizing financial records and assisting with required filings The responsibilities outlined above are representative of the position but are not all-inclusive. The employee may be required to perform additional duties, including those outside the primary scope of this role, as reasonably assigned by management. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts payable or a related field, with an understanding of accounting principles and practices or have a degree in Music Business, Accounting, Finance, or Business Management. Experience with QuickBooks Online and BILL.com is preferred. The candidate should also possess excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
