Open Position : NDE Technician (UT) The UT Technician will perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT) on cast and forged components to detect internal discontinuities, ensuring compliance with client specifications, internal quality procedures, international codes (EN, ISO, ASME, ASTM), and EHSS safety regulations. The role supports the integrity verification of high-stress components and includes cross-functional NDT activities such as RT, MT, PT, UT, and VT. Job Responsibilities Execute daily Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspection schedules for production lines. Maintain inventory of NDE consumables required for daily operations. Prepare UT scan plans and technique sheets according to applicable standards (ASME, ASTM, EN) and customer requirements. Coordinate and explain inspection techniques to TPI representatives, customers, and auditors during inspections and audits. Recommend preparation of verification blocks based on job requirements, materials, and specifications. Conduct daily verification checks and preventive maintenance of NDE equipment to ensure reliability. Set up and calibrate NDE equipment and probes using calibration blocks as per approved procedures. Create and evaluate DAC (Distance Amplitude Curve) and DGS (Distance Gain Size) curves. Ensure components are properly cleaned before inspection to achieve optimal ultrasonic transmission. Evaluate and interpret ultrasonic signals to identify defects such as porosity, shrinkage, cracks, and laps. Maintain UT inspection logs and upload reports to the MES system. Maintain accurate calibration records, inspection logs, scan plans, and data files with full traceability. Ensure materials are stored safely and the work area complies with EHSS requirements. Ensure inspections comply with applicable international standards and customer specifications. Support other NDT methods including RT, MT, PT, and VT as required. Job Requirements Education ITI / Diploma / Degree or equivalent discipline. Certifications ASNT Level II certification in at least four methods (RT, UT, MT, PT). ISO 9712 certification preferred. Experience Minimum 5 to 8 years of industrial Ultrasonic Testing experience. At least 5 years of casting industry experience. Forging industry experience is an added advantage. Previous NDE equipment training and certification preferred. Good understanding of ASME, ASTM, ISO, and EN standards. Experience operating UT, RT, MT, and PT inspection equipment. Ability to work across multiple NDT methods. Technical Skills Ability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection standards, and test procedures. Strong understanding of UT principles, DAC, and DGS curves. Proficiency in UT inspection, interpretation, and reporting. Knowledge of defects commonly found in castings and forgings. MS Office, documentation, and email communication skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Other Skills Strong attention to detail and observation skills. Hands-on experience with MS Office. Good communication and reporting skills. Physically fit for fieldwork and capable of working in confined spaces or at elevated locations when required.
