What Youll Be Doing As a Director, you will be leading a team focused on scaling and managing Data Engineering solutions for Verizon Corporate and Financial Analysis domains. In this setup, you will be leading a team of people managers, senior data engineers and architects. You will build best-in-class solutions and services on premise, in Cloud and / or on the edge with the ability to handle both real-time and batch workloads. You will be devising AI strategies to make Data intake to consumption a seamless and efficient process. You will also play a key role in making Verizon a Great place to work through a strong focus on employee engagement, enablement and talent development. Building a diverse team with a strong leadership pipeline and an inclusive culture and also attract and retain top Engineering talent.Contributing to driving world class employee satisfaction through the implementation of relevant organizational initiatives that build on employee commitment.Mentoring and guiding Senior Data experts and people leaders.Enabling career development via access to training resources, on-the-job coaching and mentoring.Defining & continuously measuring the objectives & key results to drive an outcome-oriented practice across the team.Creating a robust strategy for the articulated and unarticulated needs of the Business aligned with the overall vision of the organization, through effective dialogue with internal & external stakeholders.Implementing modern data industrialization practices across Cloud, Big Data, and diverse database ecosystems and driving platform modernization, cloud migration activitiesDriving a Data Medallion Architecture-first mindset and enabling Federated Data Engineering practices to build flexible solutions that support enterprise initiatives.Applying an AI-first approach to data engineering by building robust data context layers that deliver intelligent insights.Implementing reusable, fit-for-future data optimization techniques and enterprise data services through an automate-first methodology.Establishing strict disciplines around enterprise data reliability and data governance, encompassing data lineage, data quality, classification, and secure access controls.Establishing best practices and routines to ensure strict adherence to SLAs and rigorous FinOps disciplines for cost optimization.Serving as a technical thought leader and advisor to the organizationHaving an external presence in the industry and driving the Verizon Brand forwardStaying informed on the latest advancements in AI and Data technology space, finding ways to deliver value by applying and customizing these to specific problem statements in the enterprise.Fostering an innovation culture where our employees are engaged in pioneering work that can be shared externally in a number of ways like patents, open source, publications, etc.Inspiring our team to create monetizable services that can be leveraged both within Verizon and externally with Verizons partners. What Were Looking For. You are a dynamic leader with outstanding organizational and analytical capabilities, strong technology leadership, hands-on experience in data engineering, and a track record of end-to-end product development and delivery. You are constantly challenging the status quo and identifying new innovative ways to drive your team towards new ways of working that creates efficiencies. Youll Need To Have Bachelors degree with eight or more years of relevant Data engineering and leadership experience.Fifteen or more years of overall work experience.Experience in leading and building Data and AI Infused engineering teams with specific focus on GCP, Modern Data platforms and Big Data, Hadoop. Experience in Data ArchitectureExperience in applying AI to the lifecycle of dataExperience in delivering business outcomes in large and complex business organizations.Experience in communicating complex designs and outcomes to a non-technical audience.Willingness to travel up to approximately 15% of the time. Even better if you have one or more of the following: Masters degree in Computer Science or an MBA.Strong knowledge on Corporate Service along with Financial perspective with expertise in Telecom domain.Experience in implementing AI, Gen AI and Agentic AI solutions into Engineering practiceExperience in end-to-end

If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
