1. Job Purpose The 3D Laser Scanning Engineer is responsible for planning and executing 3D laser scanning, reality capture, point cloud processing, registration, quality checking and as-built documentation for industrial, marine, architectural, oil & gas, infrastructure and building projects. 2. Key Responsibilities Plan and execute 3D laser scanning surveys at project sites. Operate scanners such as FARO, Leica RTC360, Leica P-Series and similar equipment. Scan industrial plants, buildings, ships, marine structures, oil & gas facilities, equipment, machinery, pipelines and MEP installations. Establish scan positions, control points and suitable registration methodology. Capture 360 site imagery along with laser scan data. Perform field checks to ensure complete and accurate data capture. Register and process point clouds using Leica Cyclone, FARO SCENE, Autodesk ReCap, CloudCompare or similar software. Prepare and deliver point cloud data in RCP, RCS, E57, LAS/LAZ and other required formats. Support Scan-to-CAD and Scan-to-BIM projects. Assist modeling teams with AutoCAD, Revit, MEP, plant and AVEVA E3D models. Conduct point-cloud quality checks and identify missing or incorrect scan areas. Prepare scan reports, survey reports and project documentation. Maintain scanning equipment and ensure proper calibration and safe handling. Coordinate with clients, surveyors, engineers and project managers. Follow project HSE, QA/QC and site safety requirements. Travel to domestic and international project locations when required. 3. Required Technical Skills Good knowledge of 3D Laser Scanning / Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS). Knowledge of point cloud registration and processing. Knowledge of survey fundamentals and coordinate systems. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD. Understanding of Revit / BIM is an advantage. Understanding of industrial and MEP environments is preferred. Ability to interpret engineering drawings. Knowledge of Scan-to-BIM / Scan-to-CAD workflows. Basic knowledge of total station/GNSS surveying is an advantage. Good computer skills and ability to manage large scan datasets. 4. Software Skills Preferred: FARO SCENE, Autodesk ReCap, Leica Cyclone,AutoCAD, Revit and CloudCompare. Additional advantage: AVEVA E3D, Navisworks, Plant 3D, Revit MEP and PointCab or similar point- cloud software. 5. Educational Qualification Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Surveying, Architecture, Geomatics or a related engineering discipline. 6. Experience Freshers with relevant training in 3D laser scanning and surveying may be considered. For experienced candidates, 25 years of experience in 3D laser scanning, surveying, point-cloud processing, Scan-to-BIM or industrial reality capture is preferred. Experience in marine, shipbuilding, oil & gas, industrial plants or infrastructure projects will be an advantage. 7. Personal Skills Good communication and coordination skills. Ability to work independently at project sites. Strong attention to detail. Willingness to travel. Ability to work under project deadlines. Problem-solving attitude. Good documentation skills. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. . Willingness to work on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as required, subject to site/client approvals. 8. Key Performance Indicators Scanning completed according to project schedule. Required scan coverage achieved. Point-cloud registration accuracy. Minimum data gaps and re-scanning requirements. Quality of point-cloud deliverables. Timely submission of project data and reports. Proper equipment handling and maintenance. Compliance with HSE and QA/QC requirements. Client satisfaction. 9. Typical Project Deliverables Registered point clouds, RCP/RCS files and E57 files. 360 panoramic images and scan reports. As-built drawings and Scan-to-CAD models. Scan-to-BIM / Revit models. AVEVA E3D models. Clash detection data. Digital Twin / Reality Capture datasets. 10. EDGE3D Project Exposure Marine & Ships | Oil & Gas | Industrial Plants | Architecture | Infrastructure | Airports | Cement Plants | Food Plants | MEP | Plant Retrofit | Scan-to-BIM | Digital Twin 11. Reporting The 3D Laser Scanning Engineer will report to the Project Manager / Scanning Manager / Technical Manager and coordinate with the modeling and engineering teams. 12. Salary & Benefits Salary: Based on experience, technical skills and project exposure. Travel allowance .
