Department: Manufacturing Engineering / Powertrain Assembly Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic entry-level Powertrain Assembly Process Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with 0-1 year of experience who is passionate about automotive engineering and manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will contribute to optimizing and improving powertrain assembly lines, ensuring high-quality production, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and grow within the automotive industry. Key Responsibilities: Support the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of powertrain assembly processes for various components (e.g., engines, transmissions, drivetrains). Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time, minimize scrap, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for production issues, quality concerns, and warranty claims using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys). Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, quality, production, and maintenance, to resolve manufacturing challenges and support new product introductions. Help create, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans to ensure clear guidelines for assembly operators. Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles, 5S initiatives, and other continuous improvement methodologies on the assembly line. Assist in data collection and analysis using tools like Excel, Minitab, or other statistical software to monitor process performance and identify areas for improvement. Participate in the evaluation and selection of assembly equipment, tooling, and fixtures, ensuring they meet production requirements and quality standards. Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) reviews, providing feedback to product design teams. Support testing and validation activities of assembled powertrain units, analyzing results, and documenting findings. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to process changes, improvements, and issues. Bachelor's degree in engineering Mechanical/Automobile/Production/Industrial/Instrumentation/Electrical or a closely related field. Minimum aggregate of 60% with no standing arrears/backlogs Readiness to work from office (Chennai) 0-1 year of professional experience (internships, co-op experiences, or significant academic projects in a relevant area will be highly valued). Should be a citizen of India .
