Job Title: Horticulture Manager Role Summary The Horticulture Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining landscaped areas, gardens, lawns, and green infrastructure. The role ensures aesthetic appeal, environmental sustainability, plant health, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Landscape Planning & Development Design, plan, and execute landscape layouts (lawns, gardens, plantations, seasonal beds). Select appropriate plants, trees, shrubs, and turf based on climate and soil conditions. Develop annual and seasonal planting plans. Oversee irrigation systems and water management. 2. Maintenance & Plant Health Ensure proper pruning, fertilization, pest control, and disease management. Monitor soil health and recommend improvements. Maintain lawns, hedges, indoor plants, and specialty gardens. Implement preventive maintenance schedules. 3. Team Supervision Supervise gardeners and horticulture staff. Allocate daily work schedules and monitor performance. Provide training on plant care, safety, and tool usage. 4. Budget & Resource Management Prepare annual horticulture budgets. Manage procurement of plants, fertilizers, tools, and equipment. Control inventory and vendor coordination. 5. Sustainability & Compliance Implement eco-friendly landscaping practices. Promote composting, rainwater harvesting, and waste management. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. 6. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and external landscape consultants. Coordinate with maintenance, facilities, and administrative teams. Qualifications Bachelors/Masters degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry, or Landscape Design. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience (depending on seniority level). Certification in landscaping or turf management (preferred).
