Position Summary. What you'll do. As the Senior Director eCommerce for Sams Clubs India Development Center (IDC) in Chennai, you will lead a multi-domain engineering organization that builds and operates the technology platforms that power Sams Clubs eCommerce business. Your scope spans eCommerce (Member Journeys like Cart & Checkout, Amends & Services like Tire & Battery Center, Health & Wellness, Digital Cakes etc.). You will convert strategy into scalable software, data, and AI solutionsacross mobile, cloud services, while building a high-performing leadership bench and collaborating closely with U.S. product, business, and operations partners. Extensive experience with technologies that support eCommerce & customer facing journeys Proven largescale engineering leadership. 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with 8+ years leading multilayer organizations (through Directors and Sr. Managers) delivering missioncritical systems. Demonstrated success running complex, multiproduct portfolios and platform roadmaps in a global environment. Strong technical foundation across modern architectures and data/AI. Handson familiarity with cloudnative, distributed systems; microservices and APIs; enterprise data platforms; and the practical application of AI/ML (including computer vision and data science) in production systems. Able to provide highlevel architectural guidance and technical oversight. Productdriven, metricsoriented mindset. Track record of partnering with Product and Business leaders to shape strategy, define success metrics, and execute against clear outcomebased roadmaps. Comfortable using data to prioritize, experiment, and iterate quickly while managing risk for missioncritical operations. Exceptional people and stakeholder leadership. Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain senior engineering leaders; build inclusive, highperforming cultures; and influence senior executives and crossfunctional stakeholders across engineering, product, operations, and merchandising. Global collaboration and communication skills. Experience leading distributed teams and collaborating across geographies and time zones. Able to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, businessrelevant way to senior leaders and nontechnical stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 15+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical fields, including at least 8 years managing managers (Directorlevel or equivalent) in highscale product or platform organizations. Experience building and operating technology for retail, ecommerce, or other largescale transactional and inventoryintensive businesses. Demonstrated experience leading crossfunctional programs and portfolios that span multiple domains and platforms. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Experience in wholesale club, bigbox retail, or grocery environments. Prior experience establishing or scaling a technology center/COE in India or another global location.
