Role overview We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and execution-driven Head of Engineering, Solutioning & New Initiatives to lead and scale Enewate's technical and operational capabilities. This role will be pivotal in overseeing the design, implementation, planning, procurement, and coordination of our ongoing and upcoming projects, while also leading innovation across clean energy, water reuse, and retrofit technologies. Project Engineering & Execution - Lead the end-to-end design, planning, and execution of STP and water recycling projects across India. - Coordinate with implementation teams, vendors, clients, and consultants to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. - Streamline and standardize design and engineering practices to improve scalability and efficiency. Solutioning & Technical Leadership - Be the go-to person for technical solutioning across various project types residential, commercial, hospitality, and industrial. - Oversee site assessments, design customization, BOQs, drawings, and project planning. - Troubleshoot technical challenges across ongoing projects and optimize plant performance post-commissioning. Cross-functional Project Coordination - Work closely with procurement, finance, site execution, and automation teams to ensure smooth project flow. - Establish a robust project tracking mechanisms across all stages design, purchase, execution, testing, and commissioning. Strategic Initiatives & Innovation Spearhead parallel R&D and pilot projects in: - Clean energy generation from waste (Waste-to-Energy) - Sewage-to-potable water conversion - Advanced retrofit aeration systems (Jet Aeration) for SBR retrofits - Building cross-functional task forces to develop prototypes, test feasibility, and drive commercialization. At Leadership Level - Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering and project delivery team. - Build capacity for scale, implement processes and frameworks to manage 200+ parallel projects. - Set technical vision and promote a culture of innovation, ownership, and excellence. Requirements - Master's degree in environmental engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater treatment, infrastructure execution, or clean-tech projects. - Strong background in project management, people management, Civil and MEP integration, automation, and process optimization. - Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and multi-site project execution. - Exposure to innovation projects or pilot systems in clean energy/water reuse is a big plus. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment with lean teams and big ambitions. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
