JOB DESCRIPTION We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level. As a Software Engineer III - Java Full Stack Developer + React + AI at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Credit Public Finance team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives. Job responsibilities Design, develop, test and support Public Finance DCM / Research / Trading applications using sound object oriented analysis and design principles. Re-engineer and AI based modernization to refactor and streamline end to workflows; optimize code and improve data quality for Data Analytics. Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation. Design and implement a strategic platform spanning on prem and cloud-native AWS services, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security. Maintain and enhance existing pipelines to improve reliability, performance, and supportability. Provide application support to business and client-support teams, including troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis. Stay current on industry trends and developments within the area of expertise. Represent the function in cross functional forums and collaborate with senior stakeholders. Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience Experience in software development with Bachelor's, Master's degree level in Computer Science, Math or engineering discipline or equivalent. Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security. Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices. Strong, current hands on JAVA / J2EE and java framework like Spring, Spring Boot, Microservices and MVC. Experience building and supporting production systems. Experience building UI using react or any other equivalent UI framework. Solid understanding of relational SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and data structures. Proven debugging and problem solving skills; comfort supporting mission critical data flows. Leverage AI-powered development tools (Copilot, Claude, Codex) to accelerate code generation, review, testing and delivery across the software lifecycle. Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Familiarity with how Large Language Models (LLMs) work at a high level, including concepts like using agents to break tasks into steps, basic planning and reasoning approaches, and related techniques. Experience designing hybrid architectures across on prem and AWS, background in data pipeline orchestration and optimization (batch or streaming), and configurable data delivery. Familiarity with software engineering best practices (version control, testing, CI/CD), observability (logging/monitoring), and performance tuning.
