What You'll Do Participate in the development of scalable, cloud-native platform solutions focused on CI/CD and developer productivity.Build and maintain high-performance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems best practices.Design and develop APIs, platform services, and automation capabilities that improve developer experience and engineering efficiency.Contribute to frontend experiences using React and modern JavaScript frameworks where appropriate.Drive technical strategy and influence architectural decisions across multiple teams and platforms.Partner with product managers, architects, and engineering leaders to define platform roadmaps and deliver business-critical capabilities.Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD workflows, build systems, deployment pipelines, and release automation.Own platform operations end-to-end, including reliability, scalability, availability, observability, and incident response.Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable long-term solutions.Establish engineering best practices through code reviews, design reviews, technical standards, and mentoring.Improve platform observability through logging, monitoring, tracing, and operational analytics.Drive continuous improvements in developer productivity, platform performance, security, and operational excellence. What You'll Bring: Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.5+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Strong proficiency in Java with deep understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and performance optimization.Working knowledge of React, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+). That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
