The Current Product Reliability Engineer supports the evaluation and improvement of product reliability by analyzing field performance, warranty data, and engineering information to identify reliability trends and drive corrective actions. The role applies statistical analysis, reliability engineering principles, and structured problem-solving methodologies to assess component and system performance across the Cummins product portfolio. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Product Engineering, Quality, Service, Finance, Marketing, and Analytics, the engineer contributes to improving product durability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. The role also supports the reliability and performance of analytics platforms, including Power BI environments, to enable data-driven decision making. Key Responsibilities Analyze field performance, warranty claims, returned components, and reliability data to identify failure trends, emerging issues, and opportunities for product improvement. Apply statistical methods, life data analysis, and reliability engineering techniques to evaluate component and system reliability and quantify the impact of design or process changes. Perform quantitative reliability analysis using appropriate statistical tools to support reliability assessments, failure rate modeling, and product comparisons. Support product problem-solving activities by participating in root cause investigations and implementing robust corrective and preventive actions using structured methodologies. Contribute to Product Failure Reporting and Corrective/Preventive Action (FRACAS) processes to prioritize, investigate, and resolve product reliability issues. Assist in developing reliability test plans, accelerated testing strategies, and validation methods to identify unknown failure modes and improve product durability. Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/DFMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and reliability risk assessments throughout the product lifecycle. Collaborate with Product Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to improve current product performance and customer satisfaction. Utilize engineering principles and accepted analytical methods to evaluate technical problems and recommend practical solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing product reliability, operational efficiency, and customer experience. Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of CCS Analytics applications and the Power BI reporting environment. Manage and coordinate Power BI dashboard deployments, report releases, and analytics enhancements. Maintain and optimize Power BI semantic/data models to support evolving business reporting requirements. Administer user access, security roles, and permissions within the Power BI environment. Monitor report performance, troubleshoot data refresh failures, deployment issues, and reporting system performance. Partner with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and deliver scalable analytics solutions. Develop and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, data models, and operational support documentation. Promote continuous improvement of analytics platforms, reporting processes, and engineering tools. Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Knowledge of engine and generator set (Genset) systems, component functionality, operating principles, and failure modes. Understanding of reliability engineering principles, warranty analysis, life data analysis, and reliability growth methodologies. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
