The Senior Research Analyst, Institutional Intelligence will work alongside the research team to strengthen P&I's proprietary databases and develop new data products, utilizing AI tools to enhance research capabilities and insights.ResponsibilitiesWorking with the Director of Research & Analytics and the editorial team, you will help develop new intelligence outputs monthly mandate trend summaries, data-driven story leads, analytical briefs that connect the dots across P&I's proprietary dataYou will work with our research team to expand P&I's institutional mandate database one of the most widely used proprietary data assets in institutional financial mediaYou will work with our technology team to build and refine AI-assisted workflows that monitor these sources systematically, flag relevant mandates, and ensure verified data enters the database with the analytical judgment that automated tools alone cannot provideYou will support P&I's annual survey program approximately a dozen surveys per year covering the top money managers, asset owners, and investment consultants in the industrySkills5+ years of experience in financial research, data analysis, or a related role at an institutional investment firm, financial data company, or investment consultancyDeep familiarity with the institutional investment landscape how pension funds, endowments, foundations, and asset managers operate, make decisions, and communicate publiclyDemonstrated comfort using AI tools (large language models, automated research workflows, or similar) to improve research quality and efficiencyComfort working with unstructured data sources: board meeting audio and minutes, public filings, regulatory disclosures, and RFP documentsStrong analytical and writing skills you must be able to synthesize complex data into clear, accurate, concise summaries suitable for a sophisticated financial audienceExperience managing large, complex datasets with a high standard of accuracyBachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related fieldCFA charterholder, CFA candidate, CAIA charter, or Master's degree in finance, data science, or a related fieldExperience building or improving data collection and AI-assisted research workflowsFamiliarity with media or publishing environmentsExperience working directly with pension fund, endowment, or asset manager clientsBenefitsRetirement plan savings contributionsBonus opportunities based on individual and company performanceEmployee work location is determined by the needs of the specific team and may include on-site, hybrid or remote.An in-office role would require the employee to come into the office most days with occasional flexibility to work remotely if tasks can be performed elsewhere and if the manager approves.A remote role would allow an employee to work from a home office that is in one of the states Crain does business in.We can only employ a remote / "work from home" employee if they reside in one of these states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, MI, MN, NV, NY, NC, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, and Washington, DC.A hybrid role would be a mix of in-office and remote work.Employees who live within a reasonable commute distance from a Crain office are expected to work on-site 3 days per week.Company OverviewPensions & Investments is the leading news, events and data source for money managers, investment consultants and institutional investors.
