The role OpenTrain is recruiting a Video AI Data Annotation Expert to classify events in short video clips and record precise timestamps for each occurrence. This is a contract, part-time position (20+ hours/week) open worldwide and conducted in English. Compensation is paid hourly: $40$80 per hour (top hourly rate shown as $80/hr). This role is listed as entry level but requires proven experience with video annotation or similar data-labeling work. Employment type: Contractor, Part-time Time requirement: 20+ hours per week Compensation: $40$80 per hour (USD) Language: English required Data type: Video (event classification with timestamps) What you'll do Your core responsibility is to review short video clips, identify recurring events according to detailed guidelines, and annotate those events with precise start/end timestamps and clear written descriptions. Accuracy and consistency are essential. Classify and label events in short video clips according to project guidelines Record accurate timestamps for every annotated event Write concise, consistent textual descriptions for annotated events Follow annotation protocols strictly to maintain dataset integrity Collaborate with project leads and fellow contributors to resolve questions and incorporate feedback Submit regular deliverables aligned with project milestones and expectations Requirements All requirements below are part of the role and will be used to evaluate applicants. Preserve strict attention to detail and clear communication in English. Proven experience with video annotation or similar data-labeling activities Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data quality Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply detailed guidelines Excellent written and verbal English proficiency for annotation descriptions and communications Comfort working independently and adapting to evolving annotation criteria or feedback Helpful background and who should apply You should apply if you have prior video annotation experience, enjoy careful, rules-based work, and want flexible, remote contract hours. Experience on AI training or data-centric projects and collaborating with distributed teams is advantageous but not required. Good fit for detail-focused annotators who can keep consistent labeling across many clips Beneficial for contributors who have worked on distributed or remote projects Entry-level designation means motivated, capable newcomers with annotation experience are encouraged to apply How it works OpenTrain is the hiring organization for this role.
