Role: Vertica Database Administrator (DBA) Company Name: WillWare Technologies Experience: 6-8 Years Location: PAN India Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Vertica Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on experience in administering and maintaining high-performance, massively parallel processing (MPP) columnar databases. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Vertica database administration, cluster management, performance tuning, projection design, backup/recovery, user and privilege management, and Linux-based database operations. Experience with SQL Server Database Administration will be an added advantage. Key Responsibilities Administer and maintain Vertica database clusters in production and non-production environments. Start, stop, monitor, and troubleshoot Vertica nodes using Vertica Administration Tools and command-line utilities. Manage cluster health, node availability, failover, recovery, and node additions/removals. Design, create, and optimize Vertica projections to improve query performance. Use Vertica Database Designer for projection design and workload optimization. Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity management. Manage Vertica resource pools and database resource utilization. Administer database users, roles, privileges, and access controls. Work with Vertica's native user/access concepts, including DBADMIN, object owners, and PUBLIC. Perform routine catalog backups, database backups, restores, and recovery activities. Manage epochs and perform routine database maintenance activities. Troubleshoot database, node, query, and performance-related issues. Monitor database health, resource utilization, storage, and overall cluster performance. Participate in database upgrades, patching, migrations, and configuration changes. Maintain operational documentation and follow database administration standards. Collaborate with application, infrastructure, development, and support teams to resolve database issues. Mandatory Skills Strong hands-on experience as a Vertica DBA / Vertica Database Administrator. Experience with HP Vertica / Vertica Analytics Platform. Strong knowledge of Vertica cluster administration. Hands-on experience with Vertica projections and Database Designer. Experience in node management, failover, recovery, and cluster troubleshooting. Knowledge of Vertica backup and restore procedures. Experience with resource pools and database performance tuning. Strong SQL skills. Good experience working with Linux/Unix environments. Understanding of database security, users, roles, and privileges. Desirable Skills SQL Server Database Administration MS SQL Server / MSSQL T-SQL SQL Server performance tuning SQL Server backup and recovery Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments. Preferred Candidate Profile 6-8 years of overall database administration experience Strong hands-on experience specifically in Vertica DBA Experience supporting high-volume, high-performance MPP databases Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Good communication and collaboration skills Ability to work in production environments and handle critical database incidents. .
