Job Description (JD) Purchase Manager (Metal Tube Industry) Job Summary The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing procurement of raw materials, consumables, tools, and services required for metal tube manufacturing operations. The role focuses on ensuring timely availability of quality materials such as Hollow and production consumables at competitive prices while maintaining supplier relationships and controlling costs. 1. Raw Material Procurement Manage procurement of steel grade mother Hollow (ERW & Seamless) materials, and other metals as per production requirements. Coordinate with production and planning teams to ensure uninterrupted material supply. Monitor raw material prices, market trends, and availability. Develop alternate sources for critical materials. 2. Vendor Development & Management Identify, evaluate, and on board reliable steel mills, stockists, and suppliers. Maintain strong relationships with vendors for better pricing, quality, and delivery performance. Conduct supplier negotiations and periodic performance evaluations. Maintain an approved vendor database. 3. Cost Optimization & Negotiation Negotiate material prices, payment terms, transportation costs, and delivery schedules. Analyse steel market fluctuations and advise management on purchasing decisions. Implement cost-saving initiatives through bulk purchasing and supplier development. 4. Purchase Planning & Execution Review material requirements based on production plans and inventory levels. Issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials. Track open purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers for dispatches. Resolve issues related to shortage, quality rejection, and delayed supplies. 5. Quality & Technical Coordination Coordinate with the Quality Department for supplier quality approvals. Ensure incoming materials meet required specifications (grade, thickness, width, chemistry, mechanical properties, etc.). Handle supplier complaints and corrective actions. 6. Inventory & Documentation Maintain optimum stock levels of raw materials and consumables . Coordinate with stores, production, and accounts departments. Ensure proper documentation of purchase orders, invoices, GRNs, and supplier records. Support ERP-based procurement processes. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ,Supply Chain, or related field. 510 years of experience in procurement, preferably in Metal Tube Industry. Good knowledge of steel grades, Tubes and metal market dynamics. Experience dealing with steel Tubes, traders, and industrial suppliers. Required Skills Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Knowledge of steel/raw material pricing. Understanding of tube manufacturing processes (CDW tubes, CDS tubes, precision tubes, etc.) . ERP/SAP procurement module knowledge. Analytical skills and cost-control abilities. Good communication and team coordination skills. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Reduction in raw material procurement cost. On-time availability of raw materials. Supplier delivery performance . Inventory optimization. Quality rejection reduction. Purchase budget adherence. Development of alternate suppliers. Preferred Experience Experience in ERW Tube Manufacturing, MS/SS Tube Production, Automotive Tube Supply Chain, or Engineering Component Manufacturing.
