Job Description At Freshworks, quality isnt a checkpointits part of our engineering DNA. As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, youll be the technical owner of automation strategy and test architecture for products used by thousands every day. Youll work at the intersection of code, tooling, performance, and product confidenceensuring we ship fast without breaking things. Responsibilities Own and evolve the entire testing lifecyclestrategy, tools, coverage, and automation ROI. Build scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, and microservices. Implement quality assurance with AI enabled architecture. Implement quality gates across SDLC and drive shift-left testing practices. Implement performance, non-functional, and cross-browser testing initiatives. Partner with Dev and DevOps teams to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines. Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, stability, and developer confidence. Review test code, and guide debugging and root cause analysis. Requirements 4-6 years of experience in QA automation and engineering. Domain: Should be well versed in SaaS and Enterprise level products. Problem-Solving & DSA: Solves entry-level algorithmic problems with optimized time/space complexity, using the right data structures, demonstrating strong analytical thinking and applying OOP for extensible automation code. Test Automation: Expertise in Playwright/ Typescript automation (WebFrame, Webdrivers, Xpath, CSS Selectors), proficient in UI & API automation, and experienced in Automation Framework Development. AI Enabled/Automation: Should be able to work in an AI enabled architecture and show strong expertise in enhancing tools using AI. Testing Methodologies: Deep understanding of STLC, Test Management, Test Strategy, Test Coverage, and various Test Frameworks, including release processes. Proven experience developing reusable test frameworks from scratch. Manual Testing: Competence in performing comprehensive manual tests. Communication: Clearly articulates thought processes and problem-solving approaches. Ownership & Collaboration: Demonstrates ownership, and effective teamwork. Non Functional Testing : Good understanding & hands on with Accessibility & Performance testing frameworks. Hands-on with tools like Playwright / Typescript, AI Enabled, Postman, JMeter, or similar for UI/API/performance testing. Experience in CI/CD pipelines, test strategy planning, and automation architecture. Strong debugging and defect analysis skills in distributed systems. Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, Engineering. Hands-on mindsetsomeone who codes and tests at production-level standards. Excellent understanding of functional, regression, and non-functional testing types. Solid communicator with a bias for documentation, collaboration, and high standards. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
